Bridge House Hotel & Silver Howe View Cottage, hotel in Nether Wasdale

The extensively-refurbished Bridge House Hotel is set in Grasmere, directly across from St Oswalds Church and the graveyard where William Wordsworth rests.

Well.. where do I start! Fantastic hotel - nestled in the heart of Grasmere. Fab location, transport and stay. Beautiful king room, clean and comfy. The staff - Sarah, Amber, Rhian and Ben - were super friendly and welcoming, and most definitely the best staff we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I rang up ahead of time to request a little surprise for my partner’s 30th birthday, and they set up champagne and fresh chocolate strawberries in the room, without hesitation. They even signed a card and left chocolates. Hugely appreciated and made our stay very special. The room was just stunning. We had the river outside the room. The hotel in general is modern, tasteful and spotless and the breakfast, afternoon tea and coffee was excellent. Nothing was too much to ask or do, and you were greeted by smiles, laughter, guidance and support every morning, noon and night. They really went above and beyond - thank you, team! Our new spot for years to come, without a doubt. If you’re looking for a place to stay in grasmere - look no further - you won’t be disappointed..

I'd like to thank the member of your team who phoned me at 6.30pm as I was late, as my walking day had taken longer than expected. I'd forgotten that your reception shuts at 7pm. She kindly organised for my key to be left in a key box. Much appreciated and very efficient.

We loved staying here…although just for one night. The room was warm, clean and comfortable; the food was excellent especially our evening meal…a little higher in price than the average but the quality and service made it worth it.

Hotel is immaculate, staff are brilliant from start to finish. The food in the pub attached was great and even catered for gluten free diets. Our trip was for a birthday and they took the time to leave a card in the room. The cocktail terrace was amazing at night with fire pits and blankets. Highly recommend staying here

The cottage is so cosy and warm. Wastwater lake and Scafell Pike are very close which was ideal. Sally-Anne was so friendly and welcoming, she made us feel very at home in the place and gave us some great advice and maps. Beautiful scenery surrounding the place too and it was lovely and quiet. The facilities for cooking are great and we loved the fireplace. Beds are super comfortable and the showers were nice.
