Cosy but with good, modern facilities. We loved the conservatory and the garden especially. Lovely situation. Everything we could want in village with shops, pubs and restaurants. Beautiful countryside for walks.around the village. Peaceful and people friendly. Not far from coast and many inland attractions too.

Historic market town with castle has managed to retain small independent shops/traders rather than the usual run of the mill big brand names. Some very interesting old buildings especially in the back streets, and the castle of course. You need to be fit to take the castle walk but nice views across the valley from certain points.
Free parking "zones" for up to two hours, just get a "parking disc" from many of the smaller shops and display it in your windscreen.

Nice historic characterful town with good selection of shops...
Nice historic characterful town with good selection of shops and nearby attractions. Situated amid some of the best Yorkshire dales scenery.
The Market square is good for parking using a free disc available in most shops. Richmond probably houses one of the best pie shops in the world (the noted pie shop on the market square). Restaurants and cafes to suit every budget with large spaces for family dining abound.
Some very steep streets might be a mobility challenge for some but there is a great nearly level walk around the perimeter of the castle with breathtaking views of the river and town.

The theater was fully booked so would recommend booking before you go if you want to see a performance.
Had Sunday Lunch in the Town Hall Tavern, not one to recommend.
Got some of the order wrong, food was cold and not very well cooked.
No apology, shrugged shoulders and told they would let kitchen know.
Everywhere else was perfect. Liked the station bakery, sweet shop and brewery.

We have visited Richmond a number of times, lovely little town centre with lots of unique local shops. The Kings Head is a lovely pub, inside and out, and dog friendly. Nice walk down past the waterfall, plan your walk back up well as there are a couple of very steep walks! We didn’t venture far on this trip because we just wanted to relax, which we did because of the comfort of Ellerton House
Fabulous old fashioned pub, spacious room, nice, friendly and informal. Located right in the middle of Richmond which sits at the top end of the Yorkshire Dales. Excellent pints of Tim Taylor’s Landlord with a fine traditional full breakfast next morning - what’s not to like about that?
The location was excellent being about 1 mile outside Richmond with good local roads and easy access to explore North Yorkshire Co Durham and Nth Pennines.Gill is a lovely host, very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The breakfast was excellent, generous and filling-set me up for the day
A lovely house, attractively furnished and decorated, in a small village just off the A66 near Richmond. The public areas are delightful, as was our room. Very quiet at night. One of the best hotel breakfasts I can remember, with high quality ingredients.
The hotel is situated convenient in the centre of Richmond. During our stay it was -5 degrees but the hotel was warm and cosy. The beds a tree e ver comfy with lovely quality linen. The pub food was good and the breakfasts excellent.
