2 nights and 3 days in the Yorkshire dales to celebrate my partner's Birthday. The place is well located close to Richmond where you can find all the facilities that you may need (restaurants, pubs, shops etc). We spent most of our time exploring the place as it was our first time in the yorkshire Dales. So just use the place to sleep at night and for that it was perfect Good Size room with toilet and shower plenty facilities in the room as a fridge, drawer, kettle with coffee tea and milk shelf unit chairs etc. Quiet place good night sleep and a confortable bed was all we need.

Whashton Springs Farmhouse B&B, hotel in Richmond

Nestled in the hills above Richmond, in the area of Swaledale, Whashton Springs Farmhouse B&B offers en suite accommodation, free WiFi in public areas and a garden.

The room was a good size. Everything we may need had been thought of: shower gel, body lotion, shampoo, sewing kit, shower cap, flannels etc but in addition, the fresh milk to go with the tea and coffee tray was kept in a fridge. The fridge was in a cabinet, so there was none of the annoying noise you can sometimes get when there is a fridge in the room. The location is very quiet - perfect for a stopover when travelling. We didn’t stay long enough to find out much about the local area but for us, access to the A66 and A1M was extremely easy in the morning when we continued on our journey to Northumberland and Scotland. We’d definitely stay again if we are in the area.

The setting of Easby Hall is so very beautiful. We received a very warm welcome from our host. The best gin and tonic I have ever had. The rooms are beautifully styled with lots of lovely and thoughtful touches. The breakfast was superb. This is an experience to be savoured. It was delicious and wonderfully presented within a perfect setting. A unexpected but deeply appreciated experience.

We have visited Richmond a number of times, lovely little town centre with lots of unique local shops. The Kings Head is a lovely pub, inside and out, and dog friendly. Nice walk down past the waterfall, plan your walk back up well as there are a couple of very steep walks! We didn’t venture far on this trip because we just wanted to relax, which we did because of the comfort of Ellerton House

Great walks around a very interesting town and its hinterland - loved all the dogs too, thought they added to the relaxed and happy atmosphere. The Little White Bus that took us up Swaledale was wonderful because of the lovely walking there. So glad that the lovely old character of the town is retained and that everything is accessible and within a small area.

I liked the friendly people in Richmond.

I liked the friendly people in Richmond. The shops, restaurants, and pubs were all great, and very reasonably priced. The portions in the restaurant were huge everywhere we visited. We used the local gym and spa on a day pass and the facilities were very good for the money we paid. The public transport was easy to use and cheap. The taxis were plentiful, the drivers were friendly and it was very easy to get a taxi.

We have family at Catterick and Richmond is only a few minutes drive from there. We like the Station complex with the shops & cinema, the centre of Richmond around the market place. I recommend the Green Howards museum and the Georgian theatre has a great 1 hour tour for just £8. There is the castle to visit and a nice walk around the castle to try. There are plenty of shops, little cafes, an indoor market, lots of pubs and a variety of take-aways. The market pace is cobbled and some streets away from the centre and very steep and can be hard walking for elderly.

Loved the dramatic landscape of the castle and the river valley around the town. The centre is up a slight hill but parking available in the central market square and down by the river. Some public footpaths available to walk in the countryside around the town. The town gives perhaps a good mornings wandering but with a car you can easily access the beautiful dales.

Helen and Mark were fabulous hosts and we couldn't have asked for better service! Location was perfect for a wedding we were attending close by. Room was small but very comfortable, and really good value for money. Breakfast was very tasty - freshly cooked Full English with tea and coffee and choice of juices. The hotel itself is lively in the evening with a DJ, but they do have a curfew and it didn't disturb us at all. Richmond is a lovely small town with the castle, market and lots of great pubs to enjoy.

The cottage is perfectly located for exploring Richmond on foot. It's a great gateway to driving out into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The cottage is cosy and had all the amenities we required. It was nice to keep warm during the cold and damp nights. There was plenty of room and storage in the bedrooms. Water pressure was great. The beds were comfy and clean. It was a pleasure to wake up here.

The Castle House is next to the market square in Richmond - but despite that, in a quiet secluded location. The rooms are distinctive (quirky is the owner description) and the whole place full of character. The extras - soaps, teas etc are 'quality' which just adds to a feeling of being treated as a special guest. Everything good - breakfast was super. Good value.

very welcoming, very comfortable and breakfast was delicious. The restaurant was not available for the evening meal, but that was related to the current situation, and we will look forward to eating there on our next visit to Richmond. We were able to park directly in front of the hotel, but if necessary we could have gone to the dedicated car park.

Wonderful place for a break. The flat is well equipped, warm and comfy. It also has a nice big TV and fast wifi! We wouldn't hesitate to come here again. It is also right in the middle of Richmond, which is one of the most beautiful small towns in England. And even though it's central we found it to be a really quiet spot.

The location could not be better: on Tower Street, just feet from the castle entrance, and loads of restaurants, pubs, markets, and groceries within a block. Free overnight car parking was a few blocks away, on "The Green" down the Richmond hill.
