Warm, lovely views, plenty of staff but not very attentive. The reception staff were excellent, chatty and offered to help with our luggage AND drove us back to the ferry when we were ready to leave.

Bunessan Inn, hotel in Iona

Situated in Bunessan, 9.2 km from Iona Abbey, Bunessan Inn features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. The hotel has family rooms.

I loved the 'at home' feel and welcome of the Inn. The en suite shower and toilet seemed to be fairly recent and they were excellent, but the room itself was spacious and had a sweeping view of the bay outside the Inn. The food at the restaurant was also excellent and offered vegetarian options, including veggie sausages and haggis for breakfast! We were most pleased with our stay and found it a perfect place to stay for our visit to Iona.

Ardoran House, hotel in Iona

Situated on the Isle of Iona, 500 metres from the Iona Ferry Terminal, Ardoran House boasts a sun terrace and a private beach area. Iona Abbey is 1.3 km from the property.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Ardoran House in September. We were met at the ferry by John who drove us to Ardoran House. The accommodation was both comfortable and well presented and rooms quite spacious. Location wise it is a short walk to 2 hotels which we dined at plus a Spar co-op. Breakfast was delicious. Richard our host was such a professional who wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We didn’t get the opportunity to have 6 o’clock drinks with him (as we like to eat dinner early) but we still got the opportunity to talk and find out about his interesting life and how he came to manage Ardoran House.

Martyrs Bay Rooms was great. We had a lovely room, very comfortable with tea and shortbread 😊 It’s very close to the ferry, Iona Abbey and shops. The breakfast was delicious, freshly made date and cinnamon scones! Our host was so lovely and friendly. Highly recommend!

Friendly staff. Fantastic quiet location near to Iona Abbey. Innovative pod structure was designed with care similar to a taken with a yacht interior. We appreciated directions for hikes, a reasonably priced laundry service, and the immaculate grounds. In our entire one month journey through northern and northwest Scotland this was our favourite accommodation.

The location. Absolutely marvellous to wake up to see a Celtic cross, the isle of Mull across the water, and Iona Abbey close by. Facilities were fine.

View from the room was tremendous. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were very comfortable. 5 minute walk to Iona Abbey. Very many thanks to Louise on the phone at reception and Rick our hero for rescuing us in his boat from Fionnfort when we missed the last ferry.
