A superb hotel in a central location in Hereford, close to the Cathedral and other attractions. Excellent room with very comfortable and high specification furnishings. A generous basket of local produce and a carafe of sherry included, which was lovely! Breakfast was first class too, and all staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended hotel.

Room was clean and tidy, comfy bed and wash/shower facilities. Ate in the restaurant one of the nights and the food was really lovely. Kind of in the middle of nowhere but lovely views and a 10 min drive to shops and restaurants.

A great City with wonderful Norman Cathedral. Very large City Centre for size of the town. And the wonderful River Wye flows through past Cathedral. Mappa Mundi in Cathedral worth the visit on its own!!

Hereford is an interesting town, but they hate motorists.
Hereford is an interesting town, but they hate motorists. If you are driving alone, you will have insufficient capacity to see and follow all the numerous traffic signs. There are one-way streets everywhere. I tried to park to visit the cathedral, but could not find the car park I wanted, and ended up driving the wrong way down a one-way street. I would not be at all surprised to find a fine in the post for having infringed something or another.
Because of the above, I cut my trip short.

Hereford is a charming and compact town on the scenic River Wye, perfect for a short break of a few days. It boasts an impressive cathedral, a fascinating history museum in the form of the Black and White House (an original 17th century home still standing in the town square!) and an excellent cider museum. It's easy to get to via train (3 hours from London) and pleasant to walk around, so makes a great trip without a car. Only tricky part was finding anywhere that serves hot food after 6pm!

Hereford is a lovely city, very compact, many useful shops, beautiful cathedral, very very well worth visiting. Plenty of cafes and food places to eat. It is very easy to get to. We used the trains and buses to get to places such as Great Malvern with the famous lamps (Narnia, fabulous for stunning scenery) Ross on Wye (charming), Ludlow (interesting, beautiful buildings), Leominster (many antique shops). There is a Zipper bus which takes you around the town and to the train station for nothing (yes free!) People are so friendly (they say “Good morning” to you) not like London!

Hereford is a stunning county to visit.
Hereford is a stunning county to visit. Amazing cathedral and city to visit, pedestrians only in city. Lots of cafes and places to eat. River Wye is stunning and Symmonds Yat worth a visit. Maybe you will see a Peregrin Falcon there. Lots to do. The local theatre The Courtyard always has something on. There is a fabulous Cinema as well.

Lots of history attached to Hereford Cathedral and lovely...
Lots of history attached to Hereford Cathedral and lovely walks in this area. Good choice of bars and eating places in City. Very close to Welsh Border so some good places to visit nearby such as Leiminster, Ross on Wye.
The room was on the first floor with a great view down the street towards Hereford Cathedral. It's not a busy street. Parking was free, and off road. The room was cosy, spacious, well equipped in the bathroom with my favourite toiletries :) Downstairs, the breakfast and dining room extension is all pale wood and glass, sitting on the castle moat, with sun streaming in, and duck life to observe outside. Really fab. The food was produce from the hotel's own farm - tasty, well presented, attentive but not intrusive service. All good.
We booked separate hotel cottages supplied by the hotel and made our own breakfast, tea/ coffee & biscuits already available at no extra cost.Very comfortable and totally private.Full bath/ shower/toilet and washing facilities / large double bed, TV, and spacious room and personal privacy.Basically if you want a quiet, intimate room with full facilities this’ll suit you , definitely suited us and it’s the fourth time we’ve stayed there. It’s also only 10 minutes from Hereford town centre.
The location with views over the local countryside was lovely. The room was huge with a sitting area and the bathroom was large. It is not a modern hotel but the facilities were all functional and clean in keeping with the age of the property. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was beautifully presented.
We felt we got what we expected a traditional English country Manor experience.
Prospect Barn is a superbly located for a quiet couple of days away. Situated in rural Herefordshire the views from the property were exceptional. The facilities were first class and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was as if you were in a top hotel and served by our lovely hosts. Excellent places to eat locally in the evening and within easy striking distance of Hereford.
The Merton is situated on a busy road during the day but in the evening it quietens down, there are however some of the busiest bars nearby. It is in easy walking distance from the town centre, Hereford Cathedral, and Bishops meadow if you want to have a pleasant walk along the river Wye. The location is ideal for local restaurants and bars.
Decent but no frills double room, clean, comfy bed, felt safe (key pad on front door to come and go), private off road parking. Close enough to Hereford town centre to walk. Note there's no breakfast options at the moment. We ate dinner at The Burger Shop, it was the best burger I have had in a long time. Access to the garden at the back.
Extremely clean, well-appointed, plenty of kitchenware, very comfortable bed, underfloor heating in bathroom was superb because it was a very cold weekend! It’s a beautiful and peaceful location. Martin gave us great tips about the area and we had a lovely weekend exploring Herefordshire.
Great location, in the middle of Hereford’s market square, just a few minutes walk from the cathedral. The apartment faces the back of the building, so it was super quite.
Checking in was a breeze, and having an electronic keypad was nice (no worries about losing a key)
We had food in the restaurant and it was delicious. Breakfast was excellent too. Great central location to visit Hereford both in the day and night time. Two of our group were late for breakfast but the hotel were very accommadating and provided breakfast anyway.
The off road parking was good and it was easy to fin Somerville House. Convenient for Hereford Town Centre. Hosts were really helpful with suggestions of where to eat. Fresh milk on arrival was a lovely gesture. Room was comfy and had everything we needed.
Very characterful former Victorian gentleman’s residence (his brother built a similar one a little nearer to Hereford). Converted into a hotel and public house period features have been retained. Evening food and drink, including real ales are available.
Loved the TP and setup , kids loved it even in the rain and it was dry and comfy even in a storm. Excellent kitchen facilities , lovely fridge , shame we didn’t get to use the fire pit because of the rain. Would definitely go again - beats a hotel!
Everything was superb. Location was ideal for us - just outside Hereford. Hotel had the appearance of a smaller Stately Home and our room was larger than most that we've stayed in before. Set in its own grounds, it was quiet and peaceful.
Location is good. Very close to the hospital. Room is spacious and very clean. Bed is comfortable. Will definitely stay at this hotel again if come back to Hereford in future.
It was a good location. About 10 minutes into centre of Hereford - roughly £6 ish in a taxi. The hotel had a phone and taxi numbers to ring.
