A very comfortable stay, with well-appointed rooms, excellent food, and charming and courteous staff. We enjoyed the seclusion of the hotel and its position for walking. Having said that, it was easy to get about (e.g., to Keswick and Carlisle) by car.

Excellent location for fell walks in the region. Good pub food and excellent breakfast including the option to take a sandwich on walks for lunch. Staff were generally friendly and helpful - in particular the “elderly” lady taking breakfast orders. Lovely personality and a very hard worker. A credit to the Inn
The 18th-century Royal Oak at Keswick is located in the market town of Keswick, just 2 miles from Derwentwater.

We loved the location in the centre of town. We loved the staff including Marta, Daryl and Lucas. All staff were lovely, smiley, polite and friendly. To us, the staff made our holiday special. Our room was good, compact, yes but everything we needed. Lovely power shower. Loved the little extras particularly the teapot with its cozy! Breakfast delicious. Very happy with everything.

Lovely to arrive by motor launch from Keswick.
Lovely to arrive by motor launch from Keswick. Said to be a Sunday Afternoon stroll you might find it a bit tough for Grandparents. Fantastic views on a clear day (that's a day when it isn't rain, snow or Cloud Down) so be patient and read the weather forecast.

Central location - easy to find - friendly greeting from owner Matt. Room had all necessary facilities. Comfortable mattresses which provided good night’s sleep. Breakfast good and set us both up for walk in the hills. Matt provided cake which we ate at the top of Cat Bells.
Quirky uneven floor it’s an old building window seat with view of Cat Bells super comfy bed top quality toiletries provided and yummy coffee bags and biscuits and earplugs eye mask and pillow spray if you find them 🤭
Breathtaking location, with the walk up to Cat Bells just to the back of the property (it takes about an hour's walk to see one of the great views of the Lake District). Lovely hostess, great breakfast. No TV but the wifi gives you fast high fibre broadband. We really enjoyed the peaceful setting and also (coming from central London) being on a working farm. The scenery on all sides is truly stunning.
Location was perfect. 5 mins to the waters edge and parks. 2 mins from all the shops, pubs and cafes. Such a clean ans lovely outdoorsy place. Perfectly located to get the boat around the water and we did the cat bells walk with our child and dogs. Family suite room had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathroom and was very spacious and with great views and quiet being on the top floor. Andy was a great host who ran the place and even let us park on his drive for the few days we was there. Great place and would defo stay again.
