Not as expected. This is more of a seminar/conference/fitness centre than a so lacked areas of residence lounge and areas of quietness.

We received a warm welcome on our arrival and found the hotel to be very clean and comfortable. Our bedroom was large with a very comfortable king size bed.
We had a lovely breakfast with a good choice on offer.

The guesthouse a lovely old building in a beautiful location. The room was spacious with a very large comfortable bed and a fabulous view over the river. It was a quiet location with ample parking right outside. It was not ultra modern but in keeping with age and style of the building. I had originally booked to travel as a couple but due to illness was there on my own. Yvonne the hostess was amazing. She made me feel very welcome and comfortable as soon as I arrived. The room had lots of lovely personal touches including fresh biscuits and was full of quirky touches.

I used Kendal as a base for my trip as it has great access to many of the attractions around the area. Although I traveled around by car the busses are very frequent and a standard £2 a trip. The river is a great place for a stroll or even a run as there are good pathways in most places. I visited mainly to hike and visit the National Trust properties. There are many things to do in and around Kendal.

Kendal is sometimes an overlooked gem of a town, with many interesting places to visit with historic interest & a hive of culture.
We especially enjoyed the ease of getting to the Brewery Arts Centre for a concert & all on offer there.
Being into 'real ale', the Factory, was a valuable find, near to the river. (Nice pizza on a Friday evening too!) A haven for dog owners!
We visited the Art Gallery, had coffee/tea there & were spoiled for choice at the cakes for sale. Friendly staff there & an very interesting selection of modern art, photography & traditional art.
Recommend a walk up to the castle for a wonderful vista of the area.
Great connections by bus to the southern lakes & western lake district too.

The town of Kendal is great and this flat is well located to access the town centre etc.
I was disappointed with my accommodation as a very poorly equipped kitchen, poor water pressure in kitchen sink, tacky decor and bizarre unintelligible smart door handles.

Castle Geen Hotel was worth the stay.
Plenty of placed to eat in town taxi prices are fair.
Everyone seems friendly
We had an amazing stay at Arthur’s Cottage - our host allowed us to check in early as we had a wedding to attend and they made this so much easier and stress free. During our stay we had a massive snow storm and got our car stuck in Windermere - our host checked in with us to check if we were okay and offered a late check out until we could get sorted. We would book again anytime if we need to be in Kendal again. Apartment was very clean and heating was on for us when we arrived. Perfect location. Great experience.
My stay in Days Inn was very comfortable and the hotel was very clean. Staffs were so helpful and friendly. Room was well maintained. All needed stuffs was in place and staffs were there to help all the time. Especially, One of the staff (Joe) was very good and professional, also explained everything perfectly for our comfortable stay in Days Inn. Will definitely choose Days Inn if I'm visiting Kendal again.... 😃♥️.... Thank you so much for the all the tema members
The location was perfect - right around the corner from Kendal College Arts and Media campus where I was attending a workshop. The hotel also looked onto the river, which gave me a nice view from my window. The room was quiet and very large, so would do for a couple or family and I liked the provision of Lake District tea and coffee sachets. Breakfast was served in an airy room overlooking the water and there was a good selection of cooked and continental choices.
Beautiful hotel with lots of character, really comfy and cosy room decor with lots of small touches. Amazing views of the fields and mountains, perfect location for Windemere and Kendal. Lovely bar and breakfast area with balcony overlooking the views, and a serve yourself type bar. The bed was large and soft, smart TV with Netflix etc, rooms quiet and dark. Full English breakfast was quick and well cooked. Overall a really peaceful stay.
We liked the location, the comfortable quiet accomodations. The breakfast was exceptional. The hosts Wendy and Richard were friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area. we had some really nice walks thanks to them.
Kendal is a lovely little town with an ancient history. The little windy streets and buildings were charming. It was so easy, as well, to get deeper into the lake district.
We would definitely stay here again.
The location of property, it’s very near to Kendal town Center and easy access to all locations. The size of the property is also good for a family holiday with 2 kids. No parking at the property but there is a public car park within 50 meters, early bird offer before 7 am for £1 ( no issues). The WI-FI at property was super fast and excellent, it didn’t drop a single time for the entire trip for whole week.
The bedroom, guest lounge, breakfast room, all lovely and the guest lounge is such a bonus. Food variety, portions, quality all excellent. Kendal within walking distance unless you're infirm. Parking is a bit hit and miss and Kendal's road system is torturous.
Hostess so nice and very helpful.
It is definitely on my ' go back to' list.
Room we stayed at (room one) was beautiful!! Really exceeded our expectations. Hotel was lovely and so was the decor, the horses next door was an added bonus! Very near Kendal town and only a short drive to Windermere. Food was good, slightly expensive for what it was and was hoping for a more al a carte menu but happy either way.
The property was a perfect weekend haven in a fantastic location for Kendal and the surrounding areas. It was spotless and the facilities were outstanding. The host had really thought about the lay out and the use of the space. The host went above expectations with communications and even posted something we had left behind.
the owner at glenholme was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, the little exra touches in the room wer lovely, and the facilties were better than a lot of hotels we had stayd at, the property is just a short walk from Kendal and the town itself has lots to offer
‘Home from Home’
Better than staying in a hotel which I have done many times visiting Kendal / The Lakes.
Would stay again subject to availability etc.
Bathroom was clean and nice walk in shower .
Kitchen had everything we needed for our stay.
Really helpful, friendly staff - both in reception and the bar area. The room was very clean, and I felt safe there. Parking across the road was great as well.
