I'd like to thank the member of your team who phoned me at 6.30pm as I was late, as my walking day had taken longer than expected. I'd forgotten that your reception shuts at 7pm. She kindly organised for my key to be left in a key box. Much appreciated and very efficient.

Room was spacious and bathroom had a bath. The property is gorgeous, the garden was a particularly great spot to enjoy the sunshine and a few drinks. Food in the restaurant was amazing, and the breakfast was also delicious. Would definitely book again.

A very comfortable stay, with well-appointed rooms, excellent food, and charming and courteous staff. We enjoyed the seclusion of the hotel and its position for walking. Having said that, it was easy to get about (e.g., to Keswick and Carlisle) by car.

If the sun comes out and there's no wind, this lake is STUNNING. It takes about two hours to walk around the lake and you want to start as early as possible as towards 11am it'll be getting busy.

The hotel is good value, set in an outstanding location. With amazing views of the mountains. Buttermere Lake and Crummock Waters are a short walk away. We walked around both. It is a perfect place for everyone. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Especially Rachel and Renata. There was a nice choice at breakfast. The traditional breakfast was delicious. We ate at the pub in the evening, which was also very good. The vegan chilli was delicious. The Kingsize bedroom was very comfortable.
The location is perfect in the centre of Buttermere. The property itself is massive, larger than we anticipated for just the 3 of us, which is of course a good thing. Waterfall showers are fantastic and blew my lips off.
Got a hamper of goodies from the owners who I believe own the little shop next door, which was amazing and made for great hiking snacks!
10/10, will be returning in the future.
The location was ideal for exploring the lakes of Buttermere and Crummock Water. The hotel was quiet and had all the amenities I required, The staff were very friendly
I love this hotel! There is something very unpretentious and uncomplicated about it. Excellent service from the staff, and my son and I loved the view of Lake Buttermere from the bedroom window. It sounds like a small thing but I also appreciated the fact you can open the window quite wide and let in lots of fresh air, as that is not always possible in many (quite stuffy) hotel rooms now. The breakfast was also superb.
Lovely hotel perfect spot if walking buttermere and crummock water, staff were lovely, the place was clean it was just the other residents staying that let it down for our stay. Very loud neighbours in the room next door and 2 very rude girls in the bar. Other than that the place was perfect!
Buttermere YHA is a traditional youth hostel and ideal for those who love the spectacular scenery and proximity of the fells and lakes. I particularly like the fact that is always attracts people with a genuine appreciation of the area and love of walking.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Beautiful location, staff were friendly and very helpful and informative. Very welcoming hotel and the food was excellent. Only a couple of minutes walk to the shores of lake Buttermere
Lovely setting for the hostel and very close to the village of Buttermere. Bed was really comfortable and had a great sleep. Shower was really hot and lovely! Definitely recommend.
