The price was reasonable. The hotel facilities are basic but adequate. The bed wasn't big enough, the breakfast was good for the money. The dining room didn't cope well with high numbers.
Nestled close to the shores of Rutland Water, just 5 minutes’ drive from Oakham and a 50-minute drive from Leicester.

Having stayed recently at your sister hotel @ Elcot Park we were really looking forward to The Barnsdale. Hadn't stayed before so couldn't compare with it before. Really impressed by both staff , building/rooms and bar/restaurant. Bar was particularly good. Design overall was excellent

All round amazing visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful and well kept with clean, comfy rooms. The location for us was perfect (visiting Burghley House) as the hotel even lent us a couple of bikes to ride around the local area, and the centre of Stamford is just a short pleasant walk away. The car park was spacious, onsite, and free (seems less and less common now), and the breakfast was amazing. I will definitely stay there again.
We were offered an upgrade as soon as we arrived. Near the town centre, but not noisy. Very good location for visiting Burghley House. Breakfast was good.
The staff was friendly.
The breakfast was good. They cater for Gluten-free option if needed.
Excellent location to visit Stamford of Burghley House.
Easy parting at the nearby Cecil Hotel.
Easy to reach from the A1 motorway
Great location, especially for Stamford & Burghley House. The cottage was very clean and cosy. Dog-friendly with lovely walks straight from the cottage along the river. Owners lovely and very helpful. Would highly recommend.
Great location, right in the town centre. We stayed a Friday and Saturday night, but weren't disturbed by any early hours revelry! The apartment had everything we needed for our stay with the added bonus of a private parking space, so great for coming and going with the car when we drove out to Burghley House and Rutland Water. Highly recommended!
Clean, comfortable, well-decorated and thoughtfully furnished. Plenty of lovely towels provided, with tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, and crossiants as a warm welcome in the kitchen. Great location for walking into Stamford. Waitrose is just 5 mins walk away too. In addition we walked to Burghley House and gardens - lovely to not to need to use the car. We had a lovely relaxing break - thank you!
Amelia was very welcoming from the moment we arrived.
The yurt was an experience for us. We have always stayed in hotels, but it is something we would try again.
We enjoyed the set up with everything you would need, separate kitchen, outdoor dining, fire pit (if you needed it) and jacuzzi (costume required) set in their beautiful home garden.
Apples and pears on the trees, but take to make chutney...
The surroundings and that it was close to Burghley House and the local shops.
The apartment was gorgeous, well equipped and right in the centre of town.
The shower was fantastic, the bed was huge!
From the bedroom window I was able to see the fireworks and listen to the music from Battle of the Proms at Burghley House.
