The owners of Hotel du Lion d'Or were fantastic! Very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was very nice, spacious, clean. We slept great in the nice comfy bed and enjoyed having the refrigerator and coffee maker in the room! Breakfast was amazing with delicious pastries, fresh meats and cheeses, fresh squeezed juice and homemade jams! They also serve dinner in the dinning room which we dined in one night. It was a 4 course meal of soup, salad, entrée(it was duck) and dessert. All were made by the owner and exceeded our expectations. Be sure to make a reservation for the dinner. We were lucky to hit a night that they were not booked, another night we tried but could not as all the tables had already been reserved! Darn! The town is lovely and very convenient for walking to the many shops and restaurants. We drove our car and were able to find parking just around the back side of the hotel. We hiked in the Pyrenees National Park and in a few other areas. The town of Cauterets is a great location for hiking in the area and the Hotel du Lion d"Or is a great place to stay, 4 stars!!

The hotel is slightly off the main street, and rooms are being updated. Very charming, personable family running the place. High ceilings, room had a terrace.
Hôtel-Résidence Le Lys is located in the center of Cauterets, in the Pyrenees, just opposite the cable cars. It features views of the mountains, a garden and a children playground.

Traveling in the shoulder season when mountain resort towns are closing down, it was a treat to have a kitchenette. The hotel is in center of town with free parking all around. The staff was friendly, kind and extremely professional.
