I came back to Villa Gallici after I went with my fiancée last year, we planned to celebrate our two year anniversary at the Hotel.
The Hotel itself is absolutely stunning, very relaxing and overall I would recommend the hotel for a short stay and I would likely return in the future.
However there was a couple of points this year that just really let down my entire experience.
Firstly; last year the staff were phenomenal. Exactly what you expect from a 5* hotel and the very reason that we went back. This year was a truly average experience, the reception staff overall were fine. But the wait staff over the rest of the hotel were sharp, unwilling to go the extra mile, no one once asked me in 6 days how my experience was. The restaurant & pool staff were clearly inexperienced, overworked and their hearts just were not it in.
The whole experience overall was - meh. I didn’t feel looked after, I also didn’t have any huge complaints except point number two - the food.
This was my absolute nightmare overall, the food menu is nutritionally unbalanced. The hotel just does not cater for a stay longer than a night or two. You can’t even get a decent salad at the pool. The Gallici salad has no protein, I ate the Burrata salad four times and had to ask for them to add ham just for some nutritional balance.
The gastronomic experience is 150e a head and it was - ok. Nothing special. Very small portions and underwhelming.
I did raise the issue one day with the server and she quite literally said ‘go into town then’ which I did. For the very first time in my life staying at a hotel, I ordered Deliveroo 3 times during my stay.
I did speak with a few guests casually during the course of my stay and every, single, person said the same thing. The only pool option is quite literally greasy pizza or a burrata salad.
The restaurants are often empty and I can see why.
Overall as I said the Hotel itself is really quite beautiful, but the service & food really lets it down.

Just walk up and down the avenue among lots of green trees and old buildings, sit in any cafe or restaurant in mid-afternoon and enjoy the world go by. Green, warm and friendly place with positive vibe. wonderful bookstore called GOULARD about midway on the cours Mirabeau.

The hotel is brilliantly located, right next to the train station and a few minutes walk from Cours Mirabeau. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was fabulous - the croissants were to die for. The downstairs reception area was lovely; there was a snackbar (paid), a little library and a seating area. The breakfast terrace was also lovely.
This hotel is full of character with traditional French decor. The owner was very helpful.
The location is ideal, in a quiet road running parallel to the Cours Mirabeau.
Great apartment! Well located with all the comforts of home. Nice to have coffee supplied and kitchen well appointed. Comfortable bed, excellent bathroom. Nice to have a balcony overlooking the garden. Loved how quiet it was given it was close to the centre of the old town and the Cours Mirabeau.
The room was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped with plenty of crockery, cooking utensils, cutlery and a dishwasher. We were only staying one night as we were travelling but could easily have stayed longer. It was only about a 7 minute walk to the Cours Mirabeau from the hotel so the location was good. The staff were friendly and courteous and we would certainly stay here again.
Such a picturesque hotel near all the Aix action but away from the hustle and bustle. Location is perfect with 1 to 2 km walking distance access to much of the restaurants, shops & Cours Mirabeau. The facilities -- spa, restaurants and especially the pool is absolutely fantastic. Rooms are decent size, beds relatively comfortable, good design of bathroom -- with separate shower & toilet. Staff is ready to help when needed.
I think I found my perfect "home" when in Aix En Provence!
Overall an excellent one night stay. Veronique’s communication was very helpful. We hugely appreciated her meeting us, getting us parked in a convenient local garage and helping us with our baggage. The apartment is a 2 minute walk to Cours Mirabeau so very convenient. The bed was really comfortable and the kitchen superbly appointed.
The accommodation was well-positioned to explore the beautiful city of Aix en Provence, close to the cathedral and within easy walking distance of the railway station and bus station. We loved exploring the narrow streets of the old town and it was an easy walk to Cours Mirabeau. It is also quite close to the Cezanne Atelier.
The apartment was comfortable, clean and very well-equiped.
The room was big and the bed was confortable. the toiletries were from NUXE.
The Hotel is near cours Mirabeau and la Rotonde even if it was crowded and lively around the hotel , i couldnt hear the noise from my room.
The staff was nice,accomodating, and provided some information about the city upon request.
We left our luggage in their storage room and it was safe since they didnt allow access to non employees.
We had very fond memories having stayed in this hotel about 15 years ago and have only just been back. It’s a beautifully charming small hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, breakfast very good in a room full of character and the hotel is perfectly situated close to the Cours Mirabeau.
