Silken Monumental Naranco, hotel in Oviedo

Located in the Losa de Renfe area of Oviedo, this modern, 4-star hotel features a private parking, an indoor heated swimming pool, a gym and a free sauna.

As a would be writer, wifi is critical for us, and hotels are only booked if they have fully working wifi guaranteed. We’d been touring northern Spain, staying in a multitude of hotels - from two to three star – and never experienced anything but robust wifi in every hotel. At the Silken Monumental Naranco the wifi in our room was non-existent. What makes this worse is that a traveller reported the issue back in 2023 - and the hotel’s apparently failed to do anything about the issue. To achieve four star status, wifi must be available in every room. There's the facility to log-in, which we accomplished on two laptops and two iPhones, but logging on to the net – or accessing mail – proved impossible. After wasting a couple of hours, getting absolutely nowhere, I went down to reception - where the wifi signal and web access proved to be just about perfect. Complaints to the reception desk resulted in a call from an external ‘techie' – but as the issue was patently the strength of signal in the rooms – this proved futile. Our only option was to work in the reception area - just not acceptable. The earlier TripAdvisor reviewer stayed on floor 5, we were on floor 6 - so I’m guessing the issue is pervasive throughout the hotel. It’s a real shame, because the staff were very friendly and welcoming – and the very good and reasonably priced restaurant meals came as a huge surprise – but the total lack of wifi really did spoil our stay. If the wifi issue had been addressed, as it should have been several years ago, the hotel would have been perfect for us.

FAQs about hotels in Oviedo

A historical charm in the north of Spain

The historical, charming and laid-back town of Oviedo is located in the Asturias region. It is home to an array of landmarks with a mix of Baroque, Romenesque, Renaissance and Gothic architecture, some dating back to between the 9th - 16th centuries.

This is evident in landmarks such as the characteristic Oviedo Cathedral and its UNESCO World Heritage Site, Holy chamber of Oviedo.

Theatres, restaurants, bars and hotels line the streets around Plaza de España and the relaxing and charming centre of Oviedo’s old town, Plaza de la Constitución. Sample fresh regional produce with a visit to Mercado del Fontán and the open-air market, El Fontan.

Other popular museums and landmarks include Oviedo's famous Campoamor Theatre, Museo Arqueológico de Asturias, Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, and San Miguel de Lillo. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Naranco you will find the superb Santa María del Naranco Church.

The picturesque, Campo de San Francisco features ponds, fountains and monuments across the park. Booking.com offers accommodation options and hotel deals in Oviedo and throughout the Asturias region.

One of the most beautiful cities I have ever been.

One of the most beautiful cities I have ever been. Very alive city, everybody is out having fun! Nice restaurants and food everywhere. The city is very quiet and clean, this is impressive. The city center has nice old buildings and churches and big pedestrian areas. It is also one of safest cities I have ever been. Very close you can find beatiful villages and cities with big history and nice medieval old town like Aviles. Driving in Spain is safe and nice experience.

A beautiful little city with enough to see in a long weekend. Lots of places to eat and drink. If you want to cater for your own food there are plenty of medium sized supermarkets and one large one. The old quarter is particularly pretty. Visited on Ascension weekend - 10-13 May 2024 - with lots going on: lots food huts in the centre selling the local cheese, and other local food produce. Excellent local marching bands and a large craft fair.

    Lovely city full of life!

Lovely city full of life! Clean, safe, amazing restaurants, cafes, bakeries. Great visits to the art museum (free!) and Cathedral (fee with a guide via QR code on your phone). Just walking around the city gives good vibes. Also a very big mall with food court in case you want to shop (or kill time on rainy days.) Surrounding villages on the coast have amazing views and crazy high waves that crash into the cliffs.

The cleanest, friendliest city in Spain.

The cleanest, friendliest city in Spain. I have never seen so many council workers sweeping a city before, incredibly clean. A must visit for everyone. The architecture is incredible, old & new together but not clashing. Museums, art, history and great cafe/bars etc all within walking distance, no taxis required.

This is quite a large city with wide boulevards and modern business and shopping areas with a beautiful old centre at its core. Good road and rail links for arrival and onward travel. Old town and Cathedral are lovely areas to explore on foot. Excellent choice of restaurants and bars- traditional Spanish but also Italian / mediterranean cusine and some catering for vegetarians/vegans. Plenty of historic buildings and gallery and museums to visit. Best experience- seeing a wedding party arrive and enter the Cathedral on Saturday morning- with traditional dress and musicians playing pipes and drums. Sitting in the sunshine at a cafe watching the spectacle unfold. Followed by a late lunch in a cobbled, inner courtyard restaurant ,nearby. Perfect!

The hotel was incredible, so clean and comfortable, in a great location to explore Oviedo and beyond. The staff were the best part, all of them so lovely, friendly and helpful. Many thanks to Alberto who was very sweet, and the best person we met on our travels. He really took care of us, helped us plan our day trips and always checked in with us to make sure we were happy, even when he wasn't working and just happened to bump into us in the street! . We will definitely come back here again. Thank for a lovely stay.

Fantastic hostel right in the centre of Oviedo but very quiet at night. It’s a small hostel over 2 floors and the staff work very hard. Kitchen is well equipped and breakfast is good and terrace on the 3rd floor is perfect for sitting out enjoying the sunshine and listening to the church bells (which only ring from 9am to 9pm). I stayed in their twin en-suite room on the third floor which was as good as any hotel room I’ve stayed in.

This is a modern, clean and comfortable hotel. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station but longer into the city centre (30 minutes). However, it is on a couple of city centre bus routes. We were a bit disappointed with the swimming pool which is really in need of a bit of care and attention. But overall we thought it good value for the location.

It was basic, but clean and fine and good value. This was a real hotel, not a booking.com scam place. (Be very careful with this site. There are places that are "special partners" that pay bigger commissions and get away with scamming their customers. Booking.com won't refund your money, even if what is offered is not what is advertised.)
