In a quiet area of town, nice rooms and clean

Hotel location was good however there are extensive building works taking place next door which was not clear at booking, which meant drilling and v noisy. On arrival I had asked for room away from the building works as I would not have booked had I known about the works - sadly this request was ignored. On the first night we had paid for a suite and I was led to believe breakfast was included ( via email exchanges), sadly at check out the front of house staff was v rude and insisted I pay for breakfast. I explained that I had thought it was included and I also explained I had not complained about the room even though it was noisy and not what I had imagined. The reception area is open and small and an embarrassing exchange took place between myself and the front of staff. The front of house staff could clearly see I was upset as the conversation was loud and uncomfortable but she persisted. The email did not say I had to pay for breakfast had it done so we would have eaten outside the hotel. If you are looking for good customer service and value for money don't choose this hotel. They ignore your requests and are rude at reception. The staff at breakfast were good and the standard of food was good however I have not been treated this badly by hotel staff before and we travel quite a lot.

The room and bed were comfortable the breakfast was excellent
