Historically known as Canton and China’s third largest city, Guangzhou is the birthplace of the most popular type of Chinese cuisine with iconic wonton soup and dim-sum. It boasts an impressive skyline, some of the oldest temples in the country and crowded markets with everything from tea to hi-tech electronics.
The busy city centre mesmerises with its futuristic architecture and beautifully lit skyscrapers but just a short trip away you can find yourself in the quiet haven of Nansha Wetland, a bird sanctuary. Rejuvenated with new energy you can then admire the traditional Cantonese architecture of Xiguan Residence, once occupied by the upper class.
One of the city’s most popular attractions, the Liurong Temple is an absolute must-see, dating back to the 6th century and featuring a 17-storey high pagoda. Make sure you don’t miss traditional buildings near Yide Road as they’re slowly being removed from the map due to the city’s rapid growth.
From a 1000-year-old lake garden, to plenty of theme parks, relaxing rolling hills and mountains, Guangzhou seems to indeed have it all! Add impressive street markets and shopping centres and you’re up for a fascinating ride.
Guangzhou Airport is a convenient metro or taxi ride away and Booking.com provides over 390 different accommodation options for you to choose from.

I looked forward to travelling to China, having last been there in 2016. I hoped to mix work and play by going on tours around the cities I visited. I was a bit disappointed by the dearth of English-speaking staff in hotels and even at airports. With China now leading in many aspects in the world, investing in a few English-speaking guides in strategic places would help. Or is the plan for all of us to learn Chinese? Fellow travellers, have your translation app ready on your phones next to your passport when you land. Immigration and (some) airline staff are an exception, though. They speak rather good English.

Good food a plenty.
Good food a plenty. Beijing Lu pedestrian walk is good to shop, eat and learn some history. Visited their zoo and spent long time admiring their giant panda Xing Yi and Ya Yi with admission ticket at RMB20 only. Rainy season and hamper some travel plans. Road to Fashion Tienhe was terribly jammed due to 6.1 and rain. Fashion Tienhe was huge, funny but packed with people! Best mode of transport is metro lines, or hire a DiDi if you travel in a group of 4 (which could be cheaper per pax compared to taking the metro line).

Guangzhou was my city for 14 years, and it still feels like home to me. Returning is always a pleasure, so I might be a bit biased when writing a review. However, Guangzhou is a city that truly deserves a visit, whether for tourism or business, which is often the main reason people go there. Its rich culture, vibrant food scene, and dynamic business environment make it an excellent destination for any traveler.

Good place to shop and eat if you know where to find. This is my first trip after COVID and i realised people are not as friendly as before, consumer goods prices are no longer cheap. Food is still good and affordable.

Beautiful city full of restaurants at every street corner , the people are on the move and everyone is hustling. Language is a barrier since everyone speaks only Mandarin, you always have to have the translator app. The food is nice but the cakes are nicer - they make the most amazing cakes.
The room was amazing and spacious and so was the whole hotel, it felt luxurious. It’s very close to fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s that was working 24 hours, Dominos and KFC. TV had some English movies and series so I did not get bored while staying in the room. They had a Canton Fair registration desk which was quick and very convenient as well as transfers to the fair. They were giving out water before shuttle and snacks when we were dropped off after the Canton Fair. Great hotel and service, I give it 5*
Room was huge. Very well equipped with washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, full size cooking stove, dishes and glassware. We came early from the airport after sleepless night on the plane, but hotel managed to let us to our rooms around 11 in the morning. The swimming pool was closing at 8 PM, but when we came around 8 the lifeguard girl was nice to let us swim for half an hour. The location is also great with 2 big shopping centers around and lots of little local restaurants around.
Every time I come back to Guangzhou, I stay at this hotel. Breakfast is very good, and every time I come back, I feel very friendly. The service provided by staff Soulphen was very thoughtful and outstanding, providing me with a guide to the city, recommending delicious restaurants nearby, asking if wake-up call service is required, and arranging a taxi in advance for catching my flight. Treat me like a friend. The experience was great!
The hotel is located near to the metro station and is a few minutes walk as described by many of the reviewer. The hotel is located in front of a busy streets with restaurants servings various food from parts of China, hair saloons and a bar beside the hotel entrance for those who like a drink. Checking in and out is a breeze and the room is clean with toilet amenities. The bed is generally soft and comfy.
Free Shuttle from Airport to the Hotel after international flight. Fantastic shower. Large room, with all facilities. Very comfortable bed. Great food. Coffee could do with some upgrades but hey it's china. Friendly staff and let you know what you need to and answer all questions very well. Overall a great hotel for a stopover/relax and have a fab shower and comfy bed to sleep in.
A great hotel and a great team, located in the restaurant zone.
Hotel l bus included in the price to and from the Canton Fair each day.
Abundant and fresh buffet breakfast, eastern and western food.
Guests laundry on the ninth floor.
The well-considered room interior was made for travellers.
The bed was very comfortable and the room cleaned daily.
Room is so clean and tidy. Staff are so nice and helpful. I commend Liang(Shuttle Driver) for such a great person superb! I will come and stay again in this hotel. I highly recommend to stay in Hampton by Hilton hotel if you are in Guangzhou. It is close to the airport and they have a free shuttle. Breakfast buffet is superb as
well.
Managers James and Jolin and all their staff are awesome. Always happy to help and solve any issue. The bus to Canton Fair was always on time, with water to make it better. The hotel is well located. Their restaurant is great, with Chinese and Western options. Super recommended.
Everything is great! Love this hotel.
The breakfast is amazing if you are foreigner in China. Have salmon and cheese 😍
Especially thanks for lady in the reception - Miss Viria, she is a nice and helpful lady. And to the reception manager Holangor.
Great location and a huge hotel within great reach of most areas in the city, restaurants and shopping malls. The restaurants within the complex or a few mins away (including Starbucks) make it a very decent location and the breakfast is awesome.
Shuttle driver and desk clerk very helpful. Had an overnight stay prior to Guangzhou flight. The hotel was one of the closest to the airport but still at a reasonable rate. Several very basic restaurants within walking distance.
Great Location - easy to travel to for Canton Fair.
Lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distant.
Comfy rooms, good showers/Bathrooms, good facilities in the hotel. Free afternoon snacks and drinks in the lounge.
Lanzi was very kind & helpful, I arrived 2300 hr, But she help me to find the accommodation. It's one hour metro ride from the airport. Far south end of the city. Hostel location Close to metro & restaurants about 200 m.
The location is great, shopping and restaurants all around and near station as well! The hotel front door security are great! They are always polite and helpful. Feel extra safe with them around!
Good location and close to the airport. There are a few restaurants nearby to grab food. The hotel offers free shuttle service to and from the airport which was perfect for our needs.
Rooms are good . The best is 24 hours shuttle service from Airport to hotel without this it would be very difficult to reach hotel and link from city .
Breakfast was good .
We always stay here when going to the Canton Fair due to proximity to the showground. The hotel decor is aged and needs a makeover but is always clean which is great.
