Amazing location, charming rooms and helpful staff
There are a ton of tourists from all over, but still seems to be a ton of locals, all living in perfect harmony. The locals, and Belgians in general, are so incredibly friendly and helpful. There seems to be no antipathy toward tourists, quite the opposite. It's interesting to watch both tourists and locals alike completely caught up in the same feeling, energy, vibe just being in the Market square creates. I can't wait to go back for Christmas Market. As I heard in a movie once, Bruges really is a fairy tale land.
Head east/north-east from the market square to see a much quieter part of town, though still with sights to see including a set of four windmills on an open green.
Not a beer expert at all, but we did the brewer tour which was great fun. Found a great bar just off the Market Square called "Barts" tiny little bar with tonnes of character and atmosphere
