What were your favourite places there?
The Sommerrodelbahn, The Cable Car, The Postalm Panoramastrasse and the drive through Fischbach. What we highly recommend is a nice walk through the town and surrounding places itself!! This is a very very pretty place.
Where did you eat?
We cooked ourselves. However, we bought groceries at the Spar market in the town.
Is it easy to get around Abtenau?
Yes. The town is very accessible. We, however, did not use the public transport.
What would you avoid on your next visit?
Nothing really. The place offers a lot of things to a tourist!

The small city in the middle of the mountains.
The small city in the middle of the mountains. The small ski resort, but the bigger one is only 10 km away. Good cross country ski´s tracks. Excellent trips and bike trips in summer are possible. A lot of round trips tracks are signed around the place. It is a peaceful friendly place,

Abtenau is a wonderful quiet little summer resort town that is quite central to many areas and activities in Salzburgerland, e.g. Salzburg is 45min away by car, Dachstein, Hallstatt and Grossglockner Alpine road all in easy reach. Plenty of hikes in summertime and though we didn’t travel in winter, there are ski slopes on your doorstep for beginner/intermediate level, with advanced level ski runs a short drive away. You do need a car to get around from here, but it is worth it.
The team is simply fantastic. As arriving after closure of kitchen they called us and took our order and kept it warm till arrival.
Room clean and well equipped. Our children got some present waiting for them. Wellness area was a very positive surprise.
Dinner and breakfast extremly good.
I simply can not say anything bad about the place. It is simply one of the 10 best hotels I have ever been (am a frequent traveller)
The hotel was easy to reach with public transport, just take bus 470 from trainstation Golling-Abtenau. Our room was very beautiful and modern. The service was excellent. Breakfast was very complete and the diners were great. I have a special dieet and they took great care of me. We really loved our stay here!
Live music in the evening on occasion, stopped at 22:00. Big room, comfy beds, typical Austrian look and feel. The breakfast was served from 8:00-10:00 and had a lot of choice. This day we only had breakfast and dinner :-) .
We stayed in a hotel for one night on our way to Italy. We traveled with a dog. The hotel was great. The room were very spacious and clean. We didn't have time to enjoy breakfast, but it looked very appetizing.
