We have totally loved staying here (in Room 7 with lots of windows which is great!) & would recommend it to anyone looking for a charming, comfortable, well appointed & furnished, spacious, efficiently & charmingly run, well positioned for walking everywhere in the town (but just on the edge enough to be very peaceful) place to stay in Carmel. 5 star rating from us. The room was an ocean view and stunning! Large space and immaculate. An unobstructed view of Sunrise/sunsets was amazing. Pricepoint extremely reasonable during the week. I absolutely loved opening my door and sitting in comfy chair on balcony looking out on beach.

Love this Inn! Front desk check in was effortless, and staff was gentle.
The Portola Inn is centrally located in Monterey very close to the water and the Pier. Hotel and Room were very clean, the staff was very professional and friendly. We had a comfortable stay and the parking was safe. It is also possible to exit the Hotel into a car free zone, which is great when traveling with younger children. We stayed during low season, so we received a good rate. During peak summer season, I would not be satisfied with the value for money.
Excellent location. Easy check in and parking. Yes, this is not a resort or three star hotel but if you are looking for a home base to sleep and shower while visiting Santa Cruz, the Beachview Inn is perfect. Room has a small refrigerator and microwave.
Very friendly family run hotel. Location is excellent right in the town and walking distance to shops and the beach. Staff recommended eating at Brophys Tavern and Tommys wok which were both brilliant. Pastries for breakfast were nice.
Great property & comfortable rooms. Very accommodating & friendly staff. Short walk to both beach front & downtown. Great to have parking spot very close to inn too. Recommend breakfasts at nearby Bagelry cafe which is just around the corner.

The inn was close to my festival and other fun places, plus it had a very clean and peaceful environment. The room is clean and spotless when you arrive and spacious for what you ask for.
Great location, quaint historic inn, right across the street from the ocean. You can hear the ocean from the front porch. The breakfast was nice, and the breakfast room is brilliant - huge windows overlooking the ocean.
Wasnt sure what to expect as the pictures I saw suggested one thing (cheap for the area and time, and cheap for a reason) but boy was I wrong (or perhaps the pictures I saw were wrong). So imagine this inn / hotel as a collection of cabins spread out with gardens, outdoor yard to sit out in the evening, and peaceful n quiet. The cabin itself is rustic in style (it seems to be a style for this area) but so comfortable and more personalable than a hotel. Would definitely not hesitate to recommend this place!
