Ponta Delgada
Estalagem Corte do Norte is located in Ponta Delgada, 40.5 km from Funchal and 7 km from São Vicente. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Free WiFi is available and free private parking is available on site. Very clean, very welcoming, the owner Paolo is a super nice person, always ready to help and to give recommendations. The breakfast was awesome. I think that staying in this place is a 10/10 experience. I really recommend it and will come back for sure.
Arco da Calheta
Set in the western part of Madeira, this brand new accommodation was built on the grounds of an old sugar cane factory. The Hotel Engenho Velho features scenic sea views, fruit orchards and an outdoor swimming pool. The view was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly. Parking was easy! The room was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was good.
Caniço
Inn & Art Madeira has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Caniço. Located around 1.2 km from Reis Magos Beach, the inn with free WiFi is also 11 km away from Marina do Funchal. Beautiful location in the mountains. Stayed there while hiking Madeira from east to west. Spacious and immaculate clean room, big and comfortable bed, good shower, shared kitchen in perfect comdition, nice and clean shared lounge/living room, you check in at the restaurant right next to the rooms, the hosts are absolutely lovely, and I can recommend dinner and breakfast at their restaurant, they close at 7 actually, but some people arrived later and got dinner from the menu, too. So the hosts are an absolute delight.
Breakfast was very good, dinner was excellent , and lots of desserts to choose from! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Special remark to the barman, with his own made cocktails, and warm "seize the day" type personality. He went out of his way to make us feel special on our special day :)
Great boutique hotel in the hills with marvellous views and amenities. It felt like a small country house hotel, but more affordable. Dinner and breakfast was very good. Lounge areas delightful and full of games and books.
Room is comfortable. We really liked saunas and indoor pool, saunas are for extra fee. 5 euros. Outdoor pools were heated. Breakfast is regular. But dinners were very good. No regrets we took it. Thank you.
Gorgeous apartment in a great location just a short walk from Santa Cruz town. The family who own the apartment live upstairs in a separate property and couldn't do enough for us! They drove us back up the hill one evening after dinner and to the airport on our last day. We would totally recommend staying here and the restaurants in Santa Cruz are fantastic!

The food was very nice, especially the breakfast. We also had dinner most of the nights during our stay at the Vila Camacho Guest house and the portions and prices were very decent. The facilities were very nice, clean and the staff very helpful and polite. We definitely recommend it.
M&R is an innovative and well designed Guest House. Clean and comfortable. My wife and I only stayed one night before taking a flight. It is just a few minutes drive away from the airport. Machico offers a nice range of good food. We could have stayed a few days longer as well, if it wasn't for the flight.
... .......The price. Fantastic value for funchal. The snack bar downstairs...top tip.select the table next to the fish tank..what a deeply relaxing table to have dinner at. Waiters old school..charming and genuine. Hot water in showers. I asked for a quiet room and got large balcony inside not street view. Rooftop lounge and balcony adorable. Opened in 89 reflected in all areas. Rustic means charm to me.
My wife & I absolutely loved our stay at North Coast Guest House, and only wish we'd stayed longer. The owners are very friendly, and it was really nice to meet & chat w/ other guests over breakfast. The house is very well located as a base to explore Madeira, while also walkable into Sao Vicente town for drinks/dinner in the evening (~10 minutes). We felt right at home from the first moment we arrived, slept comfortably & will definitely stay again (and for much longer) when we return to Madeira.
