I loved the hotel, my room, the location, and the manager, Suzanne, and her staff. The hotel was minutes away from the ferry to Gills Bay and yet so quiet and peaceful at night. I was sad to leave.

The breakfast was amazing! Delicious. I asked for oat milk and there was plenty. The best coffee I had during my stay in Britain. Lovely fresh fruits. All the ingredients were very good quality. Room 7 is really well lit and ventilated. The kitchenette amenities came in very handy as I was able to drink something hot late at night in my room. I did not mind that the bathroom was outside the room as a bathrobe was provided. Everything is super clean and the guest house is very welcoming. Great vibe. Very warm hospitality.
The Sanderlay Guest House offered good value for money. It’s not right in City Centre. So it didn’t cost a fortune. But it was close enough for our Rabbies tour van to be willing to drop us off & pick us up. It was only a £5 taxi ride to our dinner location. Our room was comfortable & clean. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious & efficiently delivered with their preset menu selection & breakfast time. Our host was very welcoming & had a great sense of humour. We would definitely go back there
They fitted us in for dinner at very short notice and despite being slightly past the closing time for the kitchen.
A fantastic guest house with comfortable and clean rooms. Sian is a wonderful host and her Scottish cooked breakfasts are delicious! Sanderlay Guest House is a great base to explore Orkney, I highly recommend it.
Rooms clean and well decorated , bed comfy, tea and coffee provided and bathroom amenities. Food in the restaurant for dinner was excellent. Good location close to the harbour and centre of town. Staff helpful.
Excellent service, great food especially our dinner where I had venison stew and my wife had curry. Great location close to everything. Good parking.
Our room was at the top of the building so it was quiet. The food at dinner was all fresh and we ate our way through the menu with relish.

Dinner and breakfast was delicious with a great menu for both. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the location was great with lots of places to park a car nearby. WiFi also very easy to get onto.
The room was a little dated in decor, but very clean and comfortable. We were expecting to stay in the pub, but were just round the corner in a guest house run by the pub. Breakfast and dinner in the pub were wonderful and the staff were great.
