The character of a delightful old pub I've known for over 50 years, has been well maintained.

Loved our room, the decor is gorgeous right through. Small ensuite but still better than having to share, great shower. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant followed by a walk around your gorgeous, quiet little town. And lovely breakfast which was included. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing old school inn location where we spent some time while hiking Lake District - inn was full of tradition, very nice people that did everything to help us have a great time there and that was the most amazing part - whatever problem we had, they solved it with a smile. Food and restaurant were also great and it is just a great place that you can use for you travels or vacation.

Dean was exceptionally helpful and friendly. He couldn't do enough. He helped with my luggage and even fetched warm water for me to wash my golden retriever when she had been in the peat bogs ! The property is in a lovely spot, with views across the fells, and is within easy distance of all the upper lakes. There's a very handy inn just across the road that serves excellent food. Very pleasant stay.

The host was very welcoming and we always had a nice chat at breakfast where he would provide us with helpful information about our day's activity. The hot breakfast was always a great way to start the day and there's an Inn over the road for a pint after a long walk. We particularly liked that there were buses running from the B&B so we didn't have to use the car, and we could also walk from the B&B to climb Blencathra. Can't wait to return and explore more. Thank you!

The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It was informal, friendly and efficient and a concern for guests was impressive. Breakfast and dinner were a delight and an open fire in the bar added greatly to the overall relaxation of our stay.

The hosts were super friendly and helpful. It’s lovely to have b&b’s which are truly dog friendly. Delicious breakfasts and the hosts were truly eager to please guests and offer extra refreshments. It was a nice touch to get advice of nice walks nearby. The Troutbeck inn over the road (literally!) also serves delicious food which is a bonus.
