Friendly, helpful staff and a generally nice room with a couple of small bits that needed fixing. I didn't have dinner in the pub but I can see why it is 2nd on a top 50 list of UK Gastro pubs. My breakfast was stunningly good with excellent ingredients and equally good service.

Such a wonderful night away, Tess and her team are so warm and welcoming and made our night so special. The food is absolutely excellent and the room was really beautiful, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really lovely too, beautifully set table, so nice to welcome you in the morning. I really couldn’t fault anything, it was fantastic. I would highly recommend staying here, we will definitely be going back.

Bearslake Inn, hotel in Tavistock

Set in a charming Devon longhouse dating back to the 13th century, this inn is located between Dartmoor’s Okehampton and Tavistock in the hamlet of Lake.

Very welcoming staff Stevie at the forefront of this. Food was first class. We had an evening meal on the Saturday the steak was amazing along with a very good cheese board. Simon recommended a Pinot Noir to complement the steak which was perfect. We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday morning walk along Granite Way followed by an exceptional Sunday Roast on our return. When in the area we will definitely go back.

We liked nothing about this place. This accommodation quoted check-in till 10 pm. I explained our train arrived at 10.01 (so we'd arrive at property by 10.10). No reply but my money was taken & booking was confirmed. We arrived just after 10 (train was early) to find the accommodation in darkness and no one to let us in. Their contact number came up as "invalid number". Because of the lateness in the evening we ended up having to sleep at a coach station!! I would give this property "0" if it were an option.

It was an attractive old pub in the centre of town. Space both inside and out was used innovatively. Our room although a little on the small side was very well thought out and comfortable with a good shower and cosy bed. The best things though were the food standard and the very friendly and helpful staff especially Toshi who made us feel so welcome and suggested lovely places to visit.

The owners and staff were excellent and made us very welcome. The breakfast was very good and plentiful which saw us through to dinner with only a light lunch. The pub was nicely decorated and provided wonderful views from the garden. Easy access to travelling the surrounding areas.

A wonderful gastropub - the food and service are exceptional. We stayed one night in a very comfortable room with a great bathroom. The highlight of our stay was the staff and the amazing food - both breakfast and dinner were beautifully presented, delicious and imaginative. It's not surprising that they were rated No. 2 in the top 50 Gastropubs. If you get the opportunity to stay here you will be very happy - we would love to return.

Breakfast was excellent. Room was comfortable, although the bathroom was very small. Dinner prices were too expensive, with no choice for less costly meals.

Everything was great! Exceptional food and service, fantastic views, comfortable bed, very welcoming and felt like home from home. Our little jack russell was really spoiled by the staff and owners. Only a short drive from Tavistock with pannier market and varied shops. We have travelled quite a bit I the UK and stayed at many hotel and B&B, I can quite honestly say that the Mary navy Inn has been the best experience of all so far.

We were blown away by this property. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and very homely. We were there for three nights but could've stayed longer. It was less than a 10-minute drive to Tavistock so it was easy to pop out for lunch or dinner, if we didn't fancy cooking. My husband and I had to both work a bit while we were away and the WiFi was excellent, able to support both laptops with ease.

We expected a cosy accommodation in city B&B (pub),....and found so much more. A great place with very attentive and friendly staff. The room was very nice and stylish and the bed super comfy. Also worth mentioning is the bathroom which was rather spacious. Twice we had dinner at the hotel (ie. at the pub) and it truly was a fantastic and delicious experience. We can absolutely recommend this hotel and would stay there again should we come back to Tavistock.
