This charming 16th century coaching inn with 27 refurbished en suite bedrooms, a bar and a restaurant is situated opposite the Norman Minster and close to the town of Newark.

The rooms are a little worn and have not been refurbished for some time but they were perfectly ok. Evening bar meals were very good as was breakfast.

    Historic building, and I was in a room in the older part of the building. It was quaint. Had dinner and breakfast (which is included in the price although it doesn't state this on Booking.com. Free parking, central location.

    Car park was difficult to find, but reception staff very helpful. All staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast Lady was excellent, very attentive, friendly and professional. Breakfast was EXCELLENT Lovely oldy worldy Inn, and we loved all the Grandfather/Mother clocks.

    The warm welcome from David on the reception desk and the friendliness of the waitresses in the restaurant both at breakfast and at dinner. The quality of the food. The comfortable armchair in the bedroom and the nice lounge downstairs.

    We have been before so knew what to expect. The hotel is situated right in the town centre and is convenient for shops and Minster. The welcome was good and the room clean and comfortable. We had drinks and dinner in the evening and it was good, with pleasant and timely service.
