On the picturesque harbour of St Mawes, with views of the Roseland Peninsula and beyond, The Rising Sun has an outdoor seating area, restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi.

The rooms have en suite facilities with a bath, shower, free toiletries and hairdryer. They also feature a flat-screen TV with Freeview channels and tea/coffee making facilities. Some rooms have coastal views.

I would honestly struggle to find any fault with The Rising Sun. From the moment we arrived and were shown to our lovely sea view room, the doggie bag of treats for our furry friend, the unmissable food, the brilliant bar staff, ample full English, lovely and kind lady that was cleaning downstairs at 7.30am when I took the dog put, right through to the biscuits in the room, our stay was perfect. The room was sparkly clean, we had a lovely big bath tub, it was quiet but fun...like a weekend away with old friends - everyone was great and did an excellent job. The best hotel experience in years, thank you

Location is perfect. Right on the edge of the harbour with views to die for. Great food and the opportunity to eat breakfast or have pre dinner drinks on the balcony. Manager is great, really helpful.

The location was great and the decor chic. Comfy beds. We had two rooms, and if we did not have our daughters’ room to compare, we’d be more impressed. The bathroom was huge and lovely. Fine dining at the restaurant for dinner was exceptional. Staff were mostly very nice and friendly. Loved the sitting room which was cosy and inviting. Having drinks on the terrace was fun. Car charging spaces were a nice touch.

Great stay at the ship and castle, slight problem at beginning but very quickly sorted with no hesitation. Recommend a stay here if in the area.

Worth way higher than the booking.com rating. Yes the carpet was a bit used in the room we had, but as we had a dog with us, it was understandable. They could hardly change it 20 times a season. The rest of the room was clean and well finished. No view, but we could have upgraded to that if it was important. Location is superb and the restaurant is good for breakfast and dinner.

Good location and room with a harbour view. Breakfast was good and the self-service buffet worked well because you could choose what you wanted and how much to have. The dinner was good as well, with a different menu everyday, which provided some good variety and you could try food that you don't normally eat on an everyday basis. Good bar and seating area in the evenings.

Only a village-view room was available but nevertheless it was an amazing room and we saw the great views from the dining room. Our room was spacious, comfortable with a fresh, chic but simple seaside feel to it, the owner had thought of everything. Breakfast & dinner were excellent. We decided to walk from the public car park but this wasn't a problem because it was made very clear beforehand that we would have to park there and pay, we did get wet due to the weather at the time though!
