Fabulous breakfast, cooked to order. Excellent location right next to Tarr Steps. Lovely touches in bedroom; home cooked biscuits, fridge with jug of real milk for hot drinks, several types of coffee maker; shampoo and conditioner in large refillable dispensers - not connected to wall so easy to use for both shower and bath users. Lovely view from window across fields with horse, pony and pheasants. Nice cosy bar and warm restaurant for cold evenings.

The Rest and Be Thankful Inn, hotel in Liscombe

Set in Minehead and with Dunster Castle reachable within 11 km, The Rest and Be Thankful Inn offers a bar, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and water sports facilities.

The Chicken, Ham and leek pie was delicious, very evidently home made. The mash and veg with it were also excellent, I like my veg and it's a rarity to get them cooked so perfectly. The Banoffee pie was definitely not necessary but equally delicious. My newly decorated room was spotless and the brand new bed vey comfortable. What can I say; I think they should get awards for their food. I was still full the following morning but I had an early start and would be out in the wilds all day, so had to refill, the Breakfast was just too good !!! Obviously locally sourced and all excellent.

We stayed here as the locatiion is excellent and were delighted that the inn has excellent, friendly staff and they have thought of so many "extras" to ensure the stay was memorable. Our complimentary breakfast was lovely and we ate in the convivial restaurant which serves delicious meals - our thanks to the chef; it was my wifes birthday and we both had a great meal.

The staff were friendly and helpful, offering advice and recommendations of different places to visit as well as taking the time to talk to me. The food was gorgeous, and the Inn itself was cosy and felt like a home away from home.

The location is incredible - it's in a secluded spot in a wooded valley overlooking the Tarr steps and Barle River; probably the best star visibility I've seen in the UK. The room was comfortable and spacious with a decent shower. Dinner was excellent. Dogs welcome.

Ideal for walking the Devon Coast to Coast route or the Two Moors Way as is right by Tarr Steps and the walk along the river to Simonsbath is beautiful. There was a good choice for breakfast and our dinner was exclellent. Staff were helpful and flexible and the room was well appointed and very comfortable, also having a good sized bathroom.

The staff were incredibly helpful, cheerful, efficient and positive. The food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent and the wine good too. The Inn, though difficult to find, is in a beautiful spot in the middle of the equally beautiful Exmoor.
