Located in Darlington and with Middlesbrough Cathedral reachable within 22 km, The Devonport provides express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi and a bar. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. Locomotion: The National Railway Museum is 25 km from the inn and Raby Castle is 28 km away.

The Hotel was a little hard to find as there were a lot of roadworks close to Darlington on A66 and the sat-nav kept bringing me back to a road that had been closed off. We eventually took an alternate route to end up at the Hotel. This had nothing to do with the hotel but anyone else travelling to this destination should be aware. Check-in was very quick and we were shown to our very spacious room with nice views from the window. The room was very clean and comfortable and we had a very peaceful sleep. We ate dinner at the hotel and the food was delicious. Breakfast was wonderful and Julie made sure everything was to our liking and made us aware of the many local areas to visit. Not having enough time on this trip we will definitely visit the area again using the Davenport as our base. Thanks Julie and all the staff.

Staff were very friendly and the castle is lovely. Unfortunately my dinner was not great. We didn't stay for breakfast so we can't comment on that.

We liked all aspects of the Balmoral Guest House. The breakfasts were excellent. Very quiet, and host and staff were extremely friendly. Great location, bus stop a very short distance away. And a lovely walk

I was given the bridal suite, which is spacious and very comfortable and was a surprise! The pub is cosy but it's also very pleasant to sit outside when the weather is good, which it was when I was there. I had dinner and breakfast in the hotel, both were excellent. The hotel is easy to find from Scotch Corner and is in a relaxing location.

The room was comfortable. Breakfast was exceptionally good and well worth the (minimal) extra cost. We ate dinner in the restaurant (separate to this booking) and it was also very good. I'd recommend staying here if you're in the area.

Lovely Roman fort and bridge ruins in the village - worth a visit.. Nice river walk. Pretty setting. Although heavy traffic! Coaching inn dating back to 1500 - which is still in the process of being restored - bit by bit! It looks like a slow project but what has been finished is nicely done. Bar area rustic and lovely. Upstairs for rooms. Beautifully furnished, clean and very comfortable bed.
