We liked everything from the warm welcome and the room and breakfast was superb.
There was just one thing we felt we should say and this has been the case in a lot of places we stayed.
In this case it was the bedspread and patterned cushions that matched. They did not smell at all clean. I appreciated people use the cushions when perhaps lying down to read but we took them straight off the bed and my husband could smell them in the room.
The bed linen itself and the towels were beautifully fresh
We were only there for one night and the couple were lovely but this must be addressed as it is very important.
I would have given full marks to everything and am sorry to have to write this

Breakfast buffet was excellent, massive spread, lots of choice, quality ingredients. Our room was spotless and spacious with a big private terrace, and lots of space for clothes and belongings, it had a useful little fridge and a nice spa bath.

We've stayed in many hotels in Spain - from simple one stars to five-star Paradores - so have a broad experience of what's good and what's not.
Suffice to say we contemplated returning to Posada Spa San Marcos on our return journey from a tour of Spain.
Had we not visited Santillana del Mar on two previous occasions it would be a definite.
We opted for the Posada - rather than the attached hotel - from a fellow traveller's recommendation – and weren't disappointed.
The Posada enjoys an adjacent private car park - so easy to move luggage to and fro.
It's a five minute walk into the historic area of Santillana del Mar - even with my walking aid!
Buffet breakfast was excellent, with everything we required being available - plus the option of a cooked breakfast on request– at no additional charge.
The walk-in rain shower was a nice and welcome surprise.
Having stayed at the Parador Gil Blas (smack bang in the middle of the difficult to navigate old town) on a prior trip, being on the edge of the town, proved much more relaxing.
To cap it all, if you're a classic car or motorbike buff, the hotel's owner allows guests to view his admirable collection.
Offering free WiFi, Posada Las Tres Mentiras de Santillana del Mar is located in Santillana del Mar, 28 km from El Sardinero Casino and 28 km from Puerto Chico.
