Rustic permalog cabin in the heart of country living. A quick 10 minute drive from Mio in a quaint village of McKinley, this cabin is less than a 1/4 mile from the AuSable River. Close to ATV/ORV, snowmobile and hiking trails. A great location to make your annual hunting or fishing camp. Several sightseeing options in and around the outlying areas that are worth the drive. Please keep in mind there is very limited cell phone service, no WiFi, no local channels or cable TV; a great place to disconnect. PLEASE NOTE: There is a steep, narrow staircase to the bedroom upstairs (loft). There are two full size beds there and a couple cables that run along the floor to support the integrity of the roof. Please watch your step. The master bedroom (queen bed) is open concept; meaning no door to close for privacy, but there is a privacy screen to use. The only bathroom is also attached to the master bedroom as seen in the photo. There are two hide-a-beds in the living room area.

Born and raised in Northern Lower Michigan, moved away for 20 years to experience the city life; and then moved back to be by family. I remember traveling over Zilwaukee Bridge thinking to myself “ah, it already feels like home”; and that is just the feeling I want you to have at my place. I hope it gives you that same feeling of relaxation, peacefulness and serenity. I lived in Oscoda County for 23 years and when I returned to northern Michigan, I wanted to give opportunity for you to enjoy the experiences that surround the area. I live an hour away from the cabin but I can have family stop over to help you in any emergency situation.

The cabin is located in the heart of McKinley. There are several other cabins and homes nearby. The cabin is located on a two track road so please drive slowly through the neighborhood and use caution as the road is uneven. Using GPS should get you right to the cabin but often times different mapping systems could take you to the wrong address. I do provide more detailed directions as the time gets closer to your arrival as the two tracks are not labeled with road names. Incorrect GPS coordinates are often the case in more rural locations. It is partially your responsibility to ensure you have the correct directions and understanding of the directions. I try to be as thorough as possible. All of the neighbors get along pretty well. Parking is on site but limited space is available. I do not allow large trailers, campers or RVs on site as it is difficult to get down the winding two-track trails to the cabin.
