Sortelha is a small and charming village located in the municipality of Sabugal, in the Beira Interior region of Portugal. The village of Sortelha dates back to medieval times, having been founded in the 12th century. Its urban layout still reflects the defensive characteristics of that era, with narrow and steep streets, granite houses, and an imposing castle. The Castle of Sortelha is one of the village's highlights. Perched atop the hill, it offers incredible panoramic views and is an excellent example of medieval military architecture in Portugal.
