You couldn't be closer to the water's edge in our self-catering suite at the head of a slipway and old historic port, with amazing views,from sunrise to sunset. Whether your choice is bathing in the warm,fishing, diving or boating, it is all available right at your door. The owner is a professional fisherman, so you can go with him for fishing, or just ask some fish to enjoy a wonderful meal in combination with a fresh Pico wine.

I was born on Faial Island in 1977, where I grew up with a deep passion for the ocean. I started fishing at a young age, gaining experience in many traditional fishing activities, from small wooden boats to the bigger tuna fishing vessels. Also freediving and sustainable spearfishing became popular activities. I moved to Pico Island where, I worked as a skipper for a local whale watching and dolphin swimming organisation and diving school.Recently I completed the course “Maritime Tour Operator” at the University of the Azores, where I obtained Portugal’s highest qualification of Ocean Skipper,and "Dive Master", which includes subjects as meteorology, oceanography, legislation, safety, basic life support and others. My experiences and passion for the ocean led me to buy my own fishing boat to earn my living. And I decided to initiate a project allowing visitors to the Azores to join in a traditional fishing activity, to have a unique experience learning about the ocean and Azorean traditions. I now also have the opportunity to receive visitors at my “Casa do Cais”, my ocean house, where people have a wonderful base for a fantastic holiday right on the ocean front.

We are also positioned in a UNESCO protected area, right at the starting point of a popular hiking trail that meanders through a UNESCO designated, historic, rock-walled, Verdelho grape growing area. For the more adventurous, the imposing Pico Mountain, the highest in Portugal at 2,351 meters, offers climbers the opportunity to climb a classic volcanic 'cone' and from the summit have the unsurpassed view of the entire central group of islands. Pico also signifies the epic nature of whale-hunting. Nowadays this has evolved into the chance to observe these giants of the sea, to follow swiftly moving dolphins and appreciate the peaceful life of the many whale species that frequent the island waters. After an active day of whale watching, mountain climbing, hiking, diving or just relaxing at the ocean side, be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks or the eerie sound of Cory´s shearwater (the local "Cagarros") moving ghostly through the dark sky.
