Looking for a nice quiet spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of town? Come and stay with us at Ratamarumaru Cottage, set in the idyllic countryside of the Whanganui region. The Cottage is the perfect family-friendly weekend away location! Ratamarumaru Cottage is a fully furnished rustic country cottage with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The cottage is well equipped, however you will want to get your groceries before arriving. Whanganui is a 30 minute drive away. The cottage is heated by a woodburner so you will have a nice cosy stay! The lounge is ready for movie night with a DVD stack ready to go and the TV is hooked up to SKY TV. The kitchen has all the basic amenities you could need including microwave, oven, cooktop, slow cooker, all plates/ cutlery/ utensils. We provide coffee, tea, sugar, plunger and coffee etc. There is mains pressure water so your shower will not disappoint! Also included is shower gel and shampoo.

The Cottage is based on a working sheep and beef farm, you are also nearby to the farm owners who will happily say hello and check how you're doing on your stay! We can guarantee you will meet the chickens and some sheep and cows, and its very likely you will meet the dogs that keep the farm in check as well! If you have a keen eye no doubt you'll spot some deer around the farm too! You are welcome to walk the tracks around the farm, please leave the gates as you find them. The tracks are also suitable for mountain bikes. While you're here don't forget to look up - the night sky with no pesky city lights is truly magical! We run our business, Backblocks Guided Hunting & Adventures, off this property and are happy to take anyone who is keen out and about on the farm! If you're curious about life on the farm we are so excited to be able to offer a farm tour that lets you experience day to day farm routine! The tour includes checking out the spectacular view of Mt Ruapehu from the airstrip, our adorable hut out the back of the farm where we always do our best to stop for a replenishing brew - depending on the time may be hot or cold ;) and can include checking our trap line for any pesky pests!
