We took a photography trip to iceland, our third this year, and our criteria was somewhere clean with a shower and comfy beds, well positioned in terms of locality to the highlands and Vik, but also somewhere that wasn't unnecessarily expensive...

It was what I expected. I liked it very much. They need to leave the WIFI password in the room so you can join. I did not have phone capability to call and ask what it was.

Gaukshof is located on the edge of civilszation in the small mountain village of Árnes. From there you are next to the great highland of Þjórsárdalur (BullRiverVallay) the home of the great viking Gaukur. Gaukur lived in Stöng in the valley and was around on the 11. century and was the chief of the area. He was killed by his neighbours and soon after the great Hekla erupted (1104) and left the whole area as wasteland. Stöng was the only acient farm still standing because of its location and has its soroundings still green with spring running just down the hill. The farms remains have been excavated and are open for everyone to see. Not far from Stöng is the oasis of Gjáinn. So Gaukur selected his location for his farm carefully.
The brothers are born and raced in the area and have been working in the travelling buissness for a long time. The area of the highlands wich is next door of Gaukshof is their favorite and Gaukshof is the gateway to those specialle places wich are yours to explore.
In the neighbourhood is a swimming pool, supermarket, bar&restaurant.
