Villa Scheria is a Corfu country house surrounded by a 1.5-acre terraced garden, with olive, cypress and other trees and bushes, with its different levels separated by stone walls. Close to the house there is a 12x6 m. swimming pool. A large, 100 sq m. veranda, on which the living room and all the bedrooms have easy access, stretches along the seaward side of the house, from which one can enjoy, at any time, spectacular views to the bay of Corfu and across, to the mainland coast of Epirus. All the villa’s rooms are spacious and well furnished, offering maximum comfort. The house is built on 2 levels: The main part of the house is on the upper level, taking advantage of the sloping ground. It consists of a spacious, 50 sq m. living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a master bedroom with a king-size bed and its own private bathroom, another bedroom with two single-beds and a third one with bunk beds. The last two share a bathroom. The lower level consists of an independent studio that includes a bedroom with king-size bed a shower bathroom and a small living room that can sleep 1 more person on living room couch bed. It also has its own. 50 sq m. covered veranda.
The house was bought by my family in 1971. Its original owner was the Hamilton family, of the well-known Hamish Hamilton publishing house. During the 60s, the famous actress Vivien Leigh, a close friend of the family, used to stay there as their guest.
The Villa is located 11 km south from Corfu town and 10 km from the airport. There is a regular local bus schedule to Town from the main road. A 7 minute (ca. 300m) walk from the house to the nearest beach and a 3 minute drive or 1km walk to Benitses , a traditional fishing village with a modern marina, an organized beach and a wide choice of nice restaurants and various shops. There are also a lot of interesting and well-frequented walking trails around the area. Places to Visit: Kaiser’s Bridge Achilleion Palace Ai Giannis Peristeron Beach Boukaris’ famous fish restaurant Korissia lagoon (Natura site) and Halikounas wonderful sandy Beach Issos Beach (wind and kite surfing)
