Uranya Traditional House is an archontiko (stone mansion) originally built in the 18th century and transformed to an elegant modern family house. Cozy and with inviting hospitality, the two-level stone mansion has been carefully restored with respect to its history, reflecting Pelion's architecture of castellated houses of that period to the fullest. With a total of three bedrooms divided between two floors there is plenty of space for privacy with the two bedrooms in the upper floor featuring their own fireplace. The main sitting area is flooded with natural light from over thirteen windows lined along a window box occupying the best area in front of the main fireplace for a bright and warm gathering spot. The kitchen is an efficient compact adaptation in stone and wood, bright colored accents for the adjacent dining area that accommodates six. The terrace is a place to enjoy the views of the countryside, for peace of mind and relaxation. The villa is reached with a 5-10 minute walk (300 meters) from a public car parking space on an old unpaved path – bringing guests into a really peaceful and magic place!
Due to the varied landscape that combines mountain with sea, Pelion is an all seasons favorite destination. In autumn and spring, our family really enjoys hiking across the many trails and routes that can be explored around the mountain amidst the olive trees and apple orchards. In winter we do skiing and in summer, we spend most of our time in the wonderful beaches with the exotic blue water. As we now live abroad, whenever we return to Greece, we make sure we sped the little time we have in our archontiko in Pinakates.
Our archontiko is located in one of the quietest neighborhoods of the village, nested away from the main road into the mountain side. House is only accessible on foot by walking along an unpaved path for about five minutes. Close to the house, one can visit the central square of the village, where the local church of Agios Dimitrios is located. At the central square one can see the interesting, from an architectural point of view, neoclassical fountain that was built in 1894 as a donation of the brothers Tsirogianni, who had emigrated in Egypt. Don’t forget to take the time to relax under the large plane tree as you savor the freshly made bread from the local bakery.
