Built amphitheatrically around the hill, Marpissa is a traditional Cycladic village with whitewashed cubic houses, standing among narrow streets, churches and windmills. Marpissa is the closest of three villages to the sea, with Piso Livadi, Chrysi Akti and Dryos the nearest beaches.
