Ta Petrina's Garden House is a real hidden gem sitting at the top of the village with a spacious shady terrace and a panoramic mountain view. The beautiful garden has an outdoor shower. The interior of the house has fascinating elements such as a bathroom partly carved into rock or the old stable converted into a cool charming bedroom . It truly makes for an ideal family holiday home! If you are looking for a modern resort hotel room with power showers, TV and the like, then this is not for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for a charming, 200 year old stone built house with a touch of romance, filled with artefacts, books and memories of the past, then this house just could be it! Of course the house has wifi, air-conditioning and the essential amenities you need to make your stay enjoyable. For longer rentals the price is negotiable.
Hi, my name is Patrick. I left England over 30 years ago with only my carpentry tools, a set of clothes and my stereo system, not knowing what the future might bring. To make a long story short I ended up in the small but lovely village of Volissos where, with a team of local craftsmen, I started fixing up old dwellings. Combining our skills, techniques and using natural materials, we brought the houses alive again and created these stylish and authentic homes. I am still the local carpenter and at the same time rent out the houses. Living in the village means I am always available and I am happy to share my local knowledge, recommend places to visit and things to do. Of course I am on hand to help if any problems arise. I would like to welcome you to Ta Petrina's Garden House and hope you will fall in love with it, the way I did! Please note this charming house is situated in a rural village so you may encounter the occasional stray cat, mosquitoes or other insects endemic to Greece.
Volissos lies on the north west coast of the island of Chios, 40 km from the main town, port and airport. Built on a hill nestling underneath a Genoese castle it looks out across the blue waters of the Aegean. As you sit on your terrace enjoying the mountains slowly turning pink in the last rays of the sun, or as you wander around the village as it winds down from the castle, you quickly realize that Volissos is still very much a traditional village. Volissos is 2 km from its little harbour and the nearest beaches of Lefkathia and Limnos, both of which have a beach bar (free use of umbrellas and sun loungers). Just a little further away is the long Managros beach, where it is always easy to find a quiet spot to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Aegean. Apart from these there are numerous other beaches to choose from. Volissos has quite a few tavernas in the village or down at the harbour and by the sea, offering a wide choice of delicious Greek food as well as a couple of cafe bars. The village has two mini markets, a butcher, a baker, a post-office, police station, a pharmacy, a surgery (24/7) and an ATM. Chios as a whole is still one of the most unspoiled islands of Greece!
