SANDY BEACHES The villa is located within 5 min. drive to Panormo sandy beach. In the sea resort of Panormo you also can find a tourist information office, many tavernas, shops and hotels, ATM points and much, much more. Other nearby sandy beaches, suitable also for diving and snorkelling, are located within 15 min. drive from the villa. The magnificent sandy beach of Rethymno, about 10 miles in length, is within 30 min. drive from the villa. The south cost with its unspoiled coves and dramatic cliffs, crystal clear, sparkling water is within 1hr. drive. THE LOCAL VILLAGE The villa is located in the outskirts of the charming traditional village of Roumeli which is within walking distance. The local taverna, shops and cafes are on the doorstep. In the village you can sit in one of the cafes and enjoy a cup of Greek coffee with the friendly locals or you can pop down to the local taverna to taste the traditional delicacies on offer like a real Cretan moussaka. OTHER POINTS OF INTEREST Many attractions, historical and archeological sites could be found near the villa. A point of interest, not to be missed, is the village of Margarites with its pottery workshops, traditional stone houses and unforgettable views. Rethymno, a medieval town built by the Venetians, is within 20 min. drive from the villa. There you can find many tavernas, shops, hotels and tourist attractions. The magnificent mountain Psiloritis is close by. The famous ancient Minoan palace Knossos is within one hour drive and other Minoan archeological sites could be found around the area. The Arcadi Monastery, a milestone in the Cretan history, is within 20 min drive.
