Absolutely wonderful!!
No more than 15 minutes drive from the ferry terminal in Stornoway and in such lovely, peaceful surroundings. Ideal place for a base in which to explore the isle.
The house was immaculate and spotlessly clean. A proper home from home. Comfy beds and all got a good nights sleep.
Chris Ann, the owner of the property, was a gem.

We were allocated a magnificent room with a superb view. Spotlessly clean and well decorated. Fluffy towels. Lovely staff. It's position was perfect in Stornaway. A green oasis and the golf course looked excellent.

Stornaway is a pleasant port town with a laid back feel and some industrial areas and parts that could do with a spruce up.
The towns got plenty of supermarkets & independents too as well as plenty of restaurants & takeaways.
Travelling around Lewis & Harris is best done by car, but it is possible to use the buses to visit lots of places too. Just double check your times with the drivers.
The beaches are stunning!

Small historic town, that is the ideal for travelling to Harris. There are a few historic sites to see but some of them were not open when we visited. Sunday very quiet with nothing open or available to do. Great place to go for a relaxing retreat.

The shops in Stornoway were super with a good range of things to choose from. We visited the butcher, the charity shops, the deli, the new Co-op supermarket, tweed shops, Tourist Information and Taigh Ceilidh where we received a very warm welcome.

the hotel is fine the staff are good prices a bit high but that is standard for the island. my only problem is a slight health issue and with the very steep stairs and the rooms all upstairs i found this a problem but the hotel is ok.

Don't bother with Stornoway itself ( apart from the castle).
Don't bother with Stornoway itself ( apart from the castle). The shopping is poor and it's very difficult to eat out on a Sunday or Monday. Most restaurants are closed! SO BOOK if you can !( We don't think they want to encourage tourists!) Do go to the Black House village and the standing stones. Really interesting. We were looking for wildlife but it was minimal. We were only there 2 full days but wished we were back on Uist!!
Warm welcome! The room was spotless and had the comfiest bed ever! There was a big, modern kitchen separate to the rooms, where you could cook meals if required and also a communal lounge area. The cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent and plenty of choice too!
I highly recommend The Stornoway B&b and am already looking forward to my next stay soon !
Fantastic 2 night stay during our mini moon. The room was very clean and personal touch was applied. It was a breath of fresh air after staying at a couple of run down hotels prior to staying at the Janel. Paul was a great host, offering us much information on where to visit/eat etc. Breakfast was good. Would recommend for a comfortable stay in Stornoway.
The owner is a wonderful host. On our tour around Scotland this was our favorite accommodation. This is due to the lovely owner, comfortable room, the dram of Scotch she had in our room when we arrived, the beauty of Stornoway and Margo’s wonderful breakfast. We didn’t want to leave.
The location of the suite was perfect for walking around and exploring Stornoway. The layout was nice and the extra bedroom was useful. Google Maps does not give proper directions so when I had to call the property manager, she was very friendly even though it was late at night.
Great location right beside the ferry terminal, friendly and professional welcome, nice clean hotel and lovely bar.
All staff very friendly and polite.
All doing a great job even in what appear to be challenging circumstances - will stay here again if we're in the area again.
Lovely modern decor, great cooking/living area, spotlessly clean and comfy beds. Can’t say enough good things about it. 10 minute walk from town center and views across the water-loved it and such great value. If we’re back in Stornoway we’ll definitely return to Salmon House.
Lovely 3 bedroomed property, on the edge of Stornoway. Quick drive into town or to the local supermarket. Kitchen was well set up and Andy was very welcoming, with fruit, shortbread, milk and a bottle of wine waiting for us! Lovely place to stay.
Personal touches such as fresh bananas and milk for breakfast were appreciated as well as secured internet! Owner responded constructively to suggestions.
It is the perfect location in downtown Stornoway w a great coffee house next door.
Large room with excellent en-suite and very comfortable bed. Olive did everything to make us welcome and the breakfast was brilliant.
It was also just a short walk from the centre of Stornoway and the restaurants
I have been travelling to Stornoway on a regular basis over the last 10 years and this was the most comfortable stay I have had including the hotels The host was extremely helpful.
A cosy and comfortable hideaway a pleasant woodland walk away from Stornoway with all the amenities we required for our stay, comfy beds and a fantastic and communicative host.
Private space, with a great location overlooking Stornoway. Yen is a wonderful host, and I felt right at home - even packing me up with my own takeaway breakfast for the ferry!
Perfectly located to explore Stornoway on foot and the rest of the island with the car. Our host was extremely nice and helped us reunite with a kids toy we had left behind!
The host was very responsive, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had a great time. Lovely house in quiet neighborhood a few min from Stornoway.
