The Summerhouse is located near the former site of Snape Abbey, in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Within walking distance of Snape Maltings, the world renowned concert hall. The location is 5 miles from the quintessentially English seaside town of Aldeburgh and 3 miles from the local train station at Saxmundham. Surrounded by an RSPB conservation area, which is home to many rare species including the elusive Stone Curlew. An enclosed garden allows security for pets and children.
I live in the grounds of a smallholding, adjacent to the listing. I am a busy mother and grandmother, often out and about with friends and family. I enjoy meeting and welcoming a wide variety of guests; especially those who like animals, long walks in the beautiful countryside, good food, music and culture. The host, Miranda, is usually available throughout the stay for information and assistance. She lives on site but teaches in a local school two days a week.
Snape village is located in a picturesque setting on the north of the River Alde, five miles from the North Sea coastal town of Aldeburgh. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and often portrayed by views of the famous Maltings Concert Hall with its backdrop of the marshes, the parish today has a population of around 600, a figure little changed since the 19th century. The village has a rich history that includes the site of a Saxon burial ship, discovered in 1862 and dating back to between AD410 and AD650; it is also listed in the Domesday Book survey ordered by William the Conqueror in 1086. You can rent bicycles on-site, making getting around the area much easier and providing opportunities for fun days out.
