Welcome to Shortflatt Tower, a 13th century historic country mansion and one of Northumberland’s most beautiful residences, set in idyllic surroundings with well-tended walled gardens and ancient woodland. Set in a private estate, we offer comfortable elegance in an area of natural beauty. The grade 1 listed courtyard cottages are located in the curtilage of Shortflatt Tower. The stables and buildings have been carefully and lovingly restored and converted into 6 luxurious cottages with a mix of 2,3 and 5 bedrooms.

Property information

This red brick building would have once been one of the most impressive stables of its time and housed the horses of the estate . The horses that lived on the estate were used for sporting activities and the Hedley Dent family bred Morgan Carriage horses. We have kept many of the original stable features in the building which now has a large open plan kitchen -diner and warm and cosy living room. Upstairs there is 4 double en-suite bedrooms with rainfall showers and of which one can be a twin or double and the final bedroom can be found on the groundfloor.

With a variety of areas to stroll or sit and relax in the garden and parkland, it is truly a wonderful space to explore. The Ancient tree-lined drive is a kilometre long, providing great privacy and uninterrupted views across the estate. The village of Belsay is just a short drive away. Here, you can explore the local businesses or visit Belsay Hall. There are lots of country walks, including Bolam Lake, or if activities are more your thing, there are lots to choose from in the surrounding areas of Newcastle.
