The Old Mine Boss Cottage is a double fronted, traditional granite build Cornish home. 50m from award winning local pub, and just a short walk from the amazing Mousehole Harbour and Village. Mousehole is a small fishing village located on the southern coast of Cornwall, England. The village is situated approximately 3 miles south of Penzance and is part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Mousehole is known for its picturesque harbour, narrow winding streets and colourful cottages. The village has a rich maritime history and was once a thriving centre for pilchard fishing. Today, the harbour is still active and is used by a small fleet of fishing boats as well as pleasure craft. The village is home to a number of local businesses, including shops, restaurants and cafes, many of which are housed in historic buildings. Mousehole also has several art galleries, showcasing the work of local artists. One of the most popular events in Mousehole is the annual Christmas lights display, which attracts thousands of visitors each year. The village is decorated with hundreds of illuminated displays, including a floating Christmas tree in the harbour. Mousehole is also a popular destination for walkers, with several coastal paths and trails offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside and coastline. Overall, Mousehole is a charming and picturesque village that offers visitors a glimpse into Cornwall's rich maritime history and culture, as well as opportunities to enjoy its natural beauty and explore its many attractions.
Mousehole is a small fishing village located on the coast of Cornwall, a county in the southwest of England. It is situated approximately 3 miles southwest of the town of Penzance and 7 miles east-northeast of the famous landmark, Land's End. Mousehole is a popular tourist destination known for its picturesque harbour, narrow streets, and traditional stone cottages. The village has a long history of fishing, and visitors can still see fishermen at work in the harbour. One of the most famous events in Mousehole is the annual "Tom Bawcock's Eve" celebration, which takes place on December 23rd. This event commemorates the legendary fisherman Tom Bawcock, who is said to have braved a storm to catch enough fish to feed the village during a time of famine. The celebration includes a procession, traditional Cornish music, and the eating of a special dish known as "stargazy pie", which features fish heads poking out of the crust to symbolize the fish looking up at the stars. Overall, Mousehole is a charming village that offers visitors a glimpse into Cornwall's fishing heritage and traditional way of life.
