We love to be in the great outdoors walking our dogs, enjoying the lovely countryside and beaches near us. The Yorkshire Coast is blessed with so many lovely beaches, although our favourites include Hunmanby Gap, Cayton Bay and of course Filey Bay. When we get the bikes out, we enjoy visiting Dalby Forest and its many cycle trails. The Cinder Track, which was once the location of the railway line between Scarborough and Whitby, is another favourite location if we’re heading out on two wheels. We often take our dogs – Molly, Winston and Alfie - on the two National Trails in our area – the Yorkshire Wolds Way and the Cleveland Way. If we want to relax, we visit the Open Air Theatre in Scarborough, which hosts some fabulous outdoor shows during the spring, summer and early autumn. This theatre attracts some amazing acts, including Tom Jones, Olly Murrs, Little Mix and Michael Ball. There’s nothing like a bit of retail therapy, and and the market towns of Pickering, Helmsley, Malton and Driffied within an easy drive. We also support our local farm shops, who in turn supply our local restaurants, pubs and cafe with delicious ingredients.

Whether you’ve got kids, are going solo or are a couple enjoying some quality time in Yorkshire, there’s lots of fab things to do. If you’re a water baby, there’s the Alpamare Waterpark in Scarborough; for those who like an adrenaline rush, there’s Go Ape! Near Dalby Forest. Into your culture? How about Castle Howard, near Malton; the National Railway Museum, York or the Deep in Hull? The nearest theme park is FlamingoLand, with rides and a zoo. If you like to stay local, Filey has it’s own museum, and a packed events schedule at the Evron Centre, including music, food festivals and much more. FIley is surrounding by lots of family places to visit including Play Dale Farm, the Glen Gardens and the Stained Glass Centre.
