Company information

Hi I’m Mark After travelling the world, I decided to settle down in Suffolk twenty years ago and started my own little business with a beautiful old derelict farm complex, which I converted into six lovely little cottages for people to escape from city life and enjoy the wonderfully rural experience that this area amazingly has, despite its close proximity to London. I love what I do and am ‘Hands On’ with welcoming guests to my own six cottages, as well as looking after my Cottage Agency 'The Grove Cottages' that soon developed as other owners came asking me to take on their cottages and give them the same level of personal customer care, attention, and promotion that we are known and appreciated for. I don’t want to be a huge company, I’m very happy to have a small agency where personal involvement is always the priority and where I can pick only places which I love and know inside out to join us. I am always available to answer any questions and above all else I want you to be in a cottage that suits you, so you will become our ambassador. Please do ask me a question about this cottage and I will give you a very honest answer. Best Wishes Mark - The Grove Cottages

Property information

Kick off your shoes, stare into the fire and relax in rural bliss. Situated in wonderful unspoilt Suffolk countryside, just a 15-minute walk across the field to a great Dog Friendly pub with its own Micro brewery. Awarded 4 Star GOLD by VisitEngland for exceptional quality of accommodation and customer service for every year since 2009. The cottage enjoys Superfast Broadband. Enjoy the beautiful worn Suffolk White brick floor, the old kilims and rugs, the antiques and art that Mark has collected over the years. This is a comfy cottage full of character, downstairs it has a big inglenook fireplace with an open log fire – above which hangs the old poacher’s gun we found hidden in the barn – a big farmhouse table for friends to gather round and sofas and chairs to relax into. Upstairs there are two lovely big bedrooms with exposed beams, and peaceful views, both have king-sized beds and one an additional single bed. There is also a shower room upstairs. As well as the gardens that surround the buildings, there is ample off-road parking. Dog owners please note there is an acre of dog exercise Orchard and meadow along with a pretty Dog washing station for muddy doggies including white fluffy towels ! – plus there are footpaths directly from the cottage into open countryside. Banned Dogs: Please speak to us first if you are considering bringing a banned dog breed. Or you can explore the tiny lanes that always lead to a lovely country pub using one of the bicycles I supply for free. Up to 2 Pets welcome. There is a 20 Pound charge per pet for up to 7 nights. Please note that cottage owners cannot accept pets that have not been paid for, so please make sure that you have paid for your pet before arrival. Reduced rate for 2 guests using just one bedroom outside High Season. Please note that if you put in the number of guests as 2 then it is assumed you will only require one bedroom. Please put in 3 guests if you want 2 bedrooms

Neighbourhood information

The Old Grove Farm, is set in open countryside and surrounded by Gardens and a one acre dog exercise Orchard, it is made up of ancient brick buildings, which were a farm workers cottage, winnowing barns, dairies and bakeries. It has a large central courtyard with a long open barn with bicycles, BBQ’s, tables and benches, it is lit at night by fairy lights and creates a double quadrangle, the buildings are now converted into 6 much loved holiday cottages with individual entrances from different areas affording guests a high degree of privacy. It is where our little business started and where we are based. While being very rural, civilisation is just a 10-minute car drive away and will get you to shops, swimming pools, etc. Your cottage is a very special place that is loved by guests and perfect for a romantic escape to the lovely Suffolk countryside. Kersey, a delightful Medieval village, is a 10 minute bike amble down the lane from us, and has an excellent Pub by the ford for thirsty cyclists. Lavenham ‘England’s best preserved Medieval Village’ is just 4 miles away. This is a place where you can feel a million miles away from City life, really relax and enjoy just being part of.
