Head a little further into the Dales you will find the picturesque Bolton Abbey, priory ruins on the banks of the river Wharfe, with plentiful space to enjoy a family picnic and many walks. A 20 minute drive away is Richmond, a thriving market town with eateries a plenty and its very own Norman castle, Richmond Castle with spectacular views overlooking the fast flowing river Swale; The Georgian Theatre Royal, the oldest working theatre in its original form; and The Green Howards Museum, telling the fascinating story of this distinguished regiment.
