Little Snoring, and its neighbour Great Snoring are pretty, rural, brick and flint villages in North Norfolk, dating back to the doomsday book. Little Snoring's church, St Andrew's, is remarkable for having a tower that is detached from the rest of the church. Nearby are Great and Little Walsingham. In true 'Normal for Norfolk' style, Great Walsingham is actually smaller than Little Walsingham, its more famous neighbour. The two villages are bisected by the River Stiffkey and there is a picturesque ford you can drive through (providing you have a large enough vehicle!) This is a lovely spot to come and sit and watch the water float by and walk along the river bank. Great Walsingham is much more peaceful than Little Walsingham, with a beautiful medieval church which retains much of its original art and carvings. There is a craft barn and local cafe serving very delicious lunches and light snacks, as well as award winning pies. Little Walsingham, steeped in a long history of religious pilgrimage, is home to the ruins of two medieval monastic houses and many 14th and 15th century buildings. One of these is now The Shirehall Museum, Walsingham's Georgian Courtroom, where you can discover more of Walsingham’s amazing history since 1061. The coast at Wells-next-the-Sea, Holkham and Blakeney is a very short drive away. Wells-next-the-Sea is a charming, traditional seaside town with sandy beaches protected by a pinewood forest. A visit to Wells wouldn't be complete without trying your luck at a spot of crabbing on the quayside, or simply relaxing and watching the world go by whilst sampling the best in local fish and chip cuisine.
