My full name is Sir Benjamin Julian Alfred Slade but I am generally known as Sir Ben Slade. My parents were Sir Michael Nial Slade and Miss Angela Clare Rosaline Chichester, and I was born on 22nd May 1946. I am the 7th Baronet, a title which I inherited from my father in 1962. I was educated at Millfield School in Somerset where I passed my O levels.

Maunsel House, a unique stately home nestled in the heart of Somerset.Surrounded by stunning lakes, ancient parkland trees, on an picturesque, tranquil estate.A fabulous place for walking dogs and doing a spot of fishing. Joint winner of Four in a Bed B&B programme. Ideal for work parties,shared family getaways and relaxing breaks. Maunsel Estate is comprised of 100 acres of beautiful park land at the centre of a 2000 acre estate. There are in fact many different types of rare trees, fruit trees, grape vines, walnut trees, sweet chestnuts here and some of them are quite ancient. We have luscious green lawns where guests can relax and unwind and a local fishing lake St Michael's . For those of you who like to be by water, you might like to take a stroll around the two lakes and enjoy a private picnic . You may like to get some inspiration for your own gardening projects, so do check out the walled garden whilst you are here. We have lots of Guinea Fowl, Peacocks and some rather lovely sheep on the estate.

Neighbourhood information

Maunsel House is very close to all the great attractions of Somerset as it is situated not far from Bridgwater and the M5, which gives you easy access to Taunton and the Quantocks, Burnham-on-Sea, Glastonbury and Wells. Beach 17 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 300 yards. There are lots of lovely walks right on our doorstep including the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal, Burrow Bump and Glastonbury Tor. We have a small quiet fishing lake situated in walking distance from the property St Michael's lake where you are able to book directly through outselves , you must have a environmental fishing license.
