Margaret’s Cottage is somewhere safe, hygienic and spotless to stay. Since we re-opened after the pandemic, we only have two of our three rooms on this site. We wish to ensure we can manage the number of guests within our property, and give you peace of mind that your stay with us will be safe and at a 2m distance from any other guests. Situated directly opposite the gates to Ardglass Golf Club, Margaret’s Cottage B&B has three beautiful bedrooms each with its own unique style and each with a beautiful private bathroom. Our cosy bedrooms are exquisitely designed and finished to the highest standard with lots of wee hidden extras to make your stay extra special. Guests gather around one big table for a wonderful cooked breakfast, served in your drawing room, overlooking the rugged County Down coast. We look forward to welcoming you as our guest.

A few years ago we swapped our busy life in Northumberland to moved back home to County Down and begin the work of transforming Margaret’s Cottage into a beautiful bed and breakfast and also into our family home [Our guests have said we are probably the best Bed and Breakfast in County Down and the best B&B in Northern Ireland ] Dating back to the 1700s, the house has always had a maritime history and has been the ballast office, lighthouse-keepers’ cottage and the base for the local coastguards and their families, so it felt ideal to create the Margaret’s Cottage into a B&B by the coast. Together, my daughter and I created a luxury B&B with two double rooms and one twin or family room, each with its own unique character and each accompanied by a beautiful ensuite or private bathroom. Throughout the house you’ll find many references to the sea, Ardglass history, our own local and long family history and the heritage of the building. Our own family dates back seven generations in this part of Ireland, and our family even owns the local pub.

Historic, dramatic, epic - this challenging course with its 14th Century Castle Clubhouse and stunning sea views certainly gives Royal County Down a run for its money. And the best bit? It’s just across the road from Margaret’s Cottage! Fishing There are fishing and angling clubs galore along these shores. None better than a little spot right behind Ardglass Golf Course where the waters brim with cod, pollock, mackerel, flounder, dab and bass. Nearby Kilkeel and Newcastle will also have you hooked! Mourne Mountains & Mourne Coastal Route See these famous mountains sweep down to the sea as in the famous Percy French song. Climb to the highest peak - if you’re up for the challenge - or hire a car and drive through the Silent Valley. It’s simply stunning – so it’s no wonder it has been awarded ‘area of outstanding beauty’ status.
