Sarah and Ian look forward to welcoming you to their home
We look forward to welcoming you to our home. It is one of the oldest houses in the village, so it has its quirks! It is comfortably appointed and guests have private use of the modern shower room just off the guest bedroom. You will use the same staircase as we do but you will have your own front door and key and a dedicated place to put coats and boots. The bedroom has its own private shower room access to which is across a landing. There is a curtain across the landing to give you added privacy on your way to the bathroom. There are two sets of steps down through the garden to house. There is a staircase to your room and two steps down to the shower room. There is a private, off-road parking space on our driveway. The house is on the edge of the village so it generally quiet (apart from bird song and farm animal noises!) and away from any hubbub on the green. The Fountaine Inn is very convenient and serves drinks and food daily. The village is a great base for walks along the river and surrounding hills as well as to enjoy in its own right. The Fountaine's Hospital is a striking building at the heart of the village. There are five means of crossing Linton Beck - can you spot them all? There is rugby, cricket, fishing and crown green bowling locally to name a few activities. There is regular cinema at the town hall in nearby Grassington and much more besides. The North Craven Fault is visible at Linton Falls and again at Kilnsey Crag and there are various topographical features that are interesting in the area. The Church of St Michael's in Linton is set on a bend in the river Wharfe and was built in the 12th century. There is a Catholic church in nearby Threshfield, known locally as the Wigwam, because of its modern architectural structure. This is Herriot country and filming for the new series of All Creatures Great and Small regularly takes place in Grassington.
We love the Dales and know the area well. We can give advice about walks, cycle routes, pubs and cafes etc to make your stay even more enjoyable. We are into walking, cycling, bowling, events, sailing, gardening and vegetable growing. We are happy to chat about things to do and places to go.
The village of Linton is picture postcard beautiful, with its green, beck and bridges. The Alms Houses are interesting architecturally as are the surrounding cottages. The village is in a great location for many walks from the door. There is plenty to see and do in the area. In Grassington just about a mile away there are plenty of pubs and cafes. There you will find the Upper Wharfedale Folk Museum and various shops and sporting clubs. The village itself is pleasant to stroll around. Further afield there is Bolton abbey, Skipton, Harrogate, Malham and lots of lovely villages and countryside in between.
