The business was originally developed from the humble restorations of the historic Coppermines buildings, situated in the Coniston Coppermines Valley by Philip Johnston and his family who still own our business today, making us one of the last independent agencies here in the Lake District. Over the years we have significantly grown to now offer over 90 hand-picked, unique, self-catering Lake District cottages (many pet-friendly), all of which are situated within the UNESCO World Heritage boundary.

In addition, there is shared use of the peaceful and picturesque lakeside picnic area - the surrounding area is visited by a variety of wild animals including red squirrel & deer. Fishing, climbing, pony trekking & many other outdoor pursuits are available within easy motoring distance - so there is no excuse not to take advantage of this opportunity to really get away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. Grange cottage is also a stone's throw away from attractions such as The Lakes Aquarium, Haverthwaite Railway and Lakeland Motor Museum, perfect for families and friends looking to explore the Lakes area.

Local Activities At the southern tip of Lake Windermere lies the quaint hamlet of Lakeside which as the name suggests enjoys open access to the lake shore. A favourite for families looking to explore, nearby attractions include Windermere Lake Cruises, the Aquarium of the Lakes, the Lakeland Motor Museum, the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway & Fell Foot Park.
