Absolutely beautiful quaint little cottage in a great location. Everything I needed and especially clean. Folders provided lots of information on local walks and routes further afield. Bed was huge and so comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Property information

There are open, steep, spiral or narrow stairs at the property. There are low banisters at the property. There is limited internet signal at the property. No children or babies allowed. A former granary to its neighbour and dating back to 1650, this delightful and historic property is oozing with character.. Ground Floor: Very narrow stairs to... Bedroom: With super kingsize bed and en-suite with shower cubicle and toilet. First Floor: External stairs to... Open plan living space. Living area: With TV and DVD player. Dining area. Kitchen area: With electric combi/oven, ceramic hob, fridge and dishwasher.. This unique property used to be a grain store but has now been converted to provide a quirky holiday home for a couple wishing to escape to a quiet village in the southern lakes.. Part of a Grade II listed building, Granary Cottage offers a delightful and a peaceful location in the heart of the historic village of Troutbeck. The building dates back to 1650 and the cottage occupies the former granary to the adjoining farmhouse. Inside, the property has been decorated, furnished and equipped to a good standard whilst maintaining many original features including massive oak beams. The views over Applethwaite Common and up to Froswick and Ill Bell are stunning. Whilst there is no garden, there is an outside seat at the top of the cottage steps and a bench with outstanding views to the fells just across the road. Troutbeck village is within the Troutbeck Conservation Area and affords a picturesque setting on the west side of this glorious valley set between Troutbeck Bridge and the Kirkstone Pass. It is an example of a linear settlement of medieval origin with original drinking troughs visible along the road. Townend (National Trust), a traditional Lake District farmhouse, is a short walk away and there are wonderful longer walks from the village including over Wansfell to Ambleside. Holehird Gardens are just two miles away, website info here - www.holehirdga...
