We are an established guest house of 14 years and truly enjoy this way of life. We are situated in a beautiful area of the North East of England. Several of our rooms have an outstanding view of the surrounding countryside and our guests always comment on the view. Our rooms are comfortable and warm, all are en-suite, two of the rooms have a bath as well as a shower. We try to provide all of the essentials necessary for a comfortable stay. We have a large garden with seating that guest are welcome to use, weather permitting. We are fully licensed and will open the bar should guests request, food is also available if required.
Over the years that we have been running the guest house we have met some lovely people and many have been returning to us for many years we are happy to call them friends rather than guests and we always look forward to their visits. Jim's main hobby is restoring vintage lorries, football (he regularly goes to watch our local team play even though they aren't great) and politics (yawn). Denise's main interests are walking, reading, gardening and going out for nice meals or a good day out.
The village in which we are situated is fairly quiet but inhabited by some lovely people. A few meters from our door guests will find extensive trailways that are used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders the pathways extend for miles for those with enough energy. Our nearest town is Crook about a mile away. There guests will find several pubs and restaurants as well as shops and supermarkets and locally we have several nice pubs which serve food. Slightly further afield we have the city of Durham (approx. 8/9 miles) where guests can enjoy the magnificent Cathedral and castle and also a lovely stroll by the river. In the surrounding area we have market towns, castles, waterfalls (the largest in England) open expanses of moorland and during the summer months a local town hosts the brilliant Kynren if you have not heard of please look it up.
